STWF Sports| SPRINGDALE, Arkansas| August 28, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders saw their two-game winning streak come to an end Friday night, falling 5-3 to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals at Arvest Ballpark.
Frisco dropped to 27-28 in the second half and 66-57 overall, while Northwest Arkansas improved to 23-32 and 52-70. The loss evened the six-game series at two games apiece.
The RoughRiders wasted no time jumping in front.
Frisco RoughRiders: A Team to Watch This Season
Sebastian Walcott opened the game with a towering leadoff home run against Northwest Arkansas starter Drew Beam, sending the ball 426 feet down the left-field line. The blast gave Frisco a 1-0 advantage and marked Walcott’s first home run in 15 games.
The Naturals answered immediately.
Frisco starter Bryan Magdaleno surrendered two runs in the bottom of the first, allowing Northwest Arkansas to move ahead 2-1.
The RoughRiders tied the game in the third inning when Dylan Dreiling delivered an RBI double. The extra-base hit continued one of the longest offensive streaks in the Texas League and briefly pulled Frisco even at 2-2.
Northwest Arkansas responded again in the bottom half.
Sam Kulasingam launched a two-run home run off Brock Porter, restoring the Naturals’ lead at 4-2. Porter took the loss and fell to 1-2 on the season.
The Naturals later extended the margin to 5-2, forcing Frisco to play from behind once again.
Walcott helped create another scoring opportunity in the fifth. The top Rangers prospect doubled and eventually scored on a wild pitch, cutting Northwest Arkansas’ advantage to two runs at 5-3.
That would be as close as the RoughRiders could get.
Frisco was unable to generate another scoring push in the late innings, and Naturals reliever Zachary Cawyer retired the RoughRiders in order in the ninth to secure his fifth save of the season.
Despite the loss, Walcott continued to show positive signs since returning from the injured list. He finished with multiple hits for the 11th time in 26 games since his return, with both a home run and a double Friday.
Dreiling also extended his remarkable hitting streak to 19 games with his RBI double. His consistency has remained one of the biggest offensive stories for Frisco during the second half.
The strongest work of the night from the pitching staff came from Joey Danielson, who delivered three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
Danielson was especially efficient in the eighth, retiring the side on just three pitches. His outing helped keep the game within striking distance and preserved the rest of the bullpen heading into the weekend.
Friday’s result came after Frisco had posted consecutive victories, including an 11-2 win Wednesday and a 7-0 shutout Thursday.
With the series now even, the RoughRiders will look to regain the advantage Saturday night.
Right-hander Aidan Curry is scheduled to start for Frisco. Curry enters the matchup with a 3-3 record and 5.49 ERA. Northwest Arkansas will counter with right-hander Grant Gambrell, who carries a 1-2 record and 4.91 ERA.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT at Arvest Ballpark as Frisco looks to bounce back and move one game closer to securing a road series victory.
