STWF Sports| FRISCO, Texas| August 23, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders finally broke through against the Wichita Wind Surge on Sunday, using a balanced offensive attack and a big second half to earn a 12-8 victory at Riders Field.
The win allowed Frisco to salvage the final game of the six-game series and close out its longest homestand of the 2026 season on a positive note. The RoughRiders improved to 25-26 in the second half and 64-55 overall, while Wichita fell to 25-26 and 50-68.
Frisco wasted little time ending a frustrating stretch at the plate.
Sebastian Walcott crossed the plate in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Dylan Dreiling, giving the RoughRiders their first lead since Tuesday. Wichita answered quickly, however, when Graham Brown launched a three-run home run to push the Wind Surge in front 3-1.
The visitors later stretched the margin to 4-1, but Frisco responded with the type of sustained offense that had been missing during much of the series.
In the third inning, Ian Moller and Max Wagner delivered RBI hits as the RoughRiders scored three runs to tie the game at 4-4.
Frisco kept the pressure on one inning later.
Dreiling came through again with a run-scoring hit, while Rafe Perich added another RBI as the RoughRiders moved ahead 6-4. The advantage did not hold for long, as Wichita rallied in the sixth and tied the game against Janser Lara.
Highlights from the Frisco RoughRiders Game
That set the stage for one of the biggest moments of the afternoon.
Theo Hardy stepped to the plate in the bottom of the sixth and connected for a home run off Wichita reliever Hunter Gregory, highlighting a three-run inning that pushed Frisco back in front 9-6.
The homer was the first of Hardy’s Double-A career and only the fourth of his 121-game Minor League career, making the blast particularly significant as it came in a key situation.
Frisco continued to add insurance in the eighth inning, plating three more runs to extend the lead to six.
The offensive depth was evident throughout the game, with the RoughRiders finishing 9-for-22 with runners in scoring position. Their ability to capitalize on scoring chances proved critical after Wichita repeatedly answered earlier in the contest.
Dreiling once again found himself at the center of the action.
The outfielder extended his season-long hitting streak to 16 games, finishing with three hits and three RBIs. His recent surge has been one of the most consistent offensive stories for Frisco and continued Sunday in a game the RoughRiders needed badly.
Lara earned the win to improve to 5-1, while Gregory fell to 2-3 for Wichita.
With the lead secure entering the ninth, Joey Danielson finished the game and picked up his second save of the season, preserving the 12-8 final.
The victory closed a two-week homestand in which Frisco went 5-7. While the overall results were uneven, Sunday’s performance provided a much-needed response after five consecutive losses to open the Wichita series.
The RoughRiders now have 18 games remaining in the regular season and will head back on the road for a six-game series against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
That series begins Tuesday, Aug. 25, with Frisco looking to carry the offensive momentum from Sunday into the final stretch of the regular season.
After a difficult week, the RoughRiders leave Riders Field with a win, a rested sense of confidence and postseason baseball still firmly ahead.
