MiLB Recap: Frisco RoughRiders Quieted by Wichita in 5-1 Loss as Arturo Disla Homers Again

STWF Sports| FRISCO, Texas| September 12, 2026 — One night after erupting for 14 runs, the Frisco RoughRiders saw their offense cool considerably in a 5-1 loss to the Wichita Wind Surge on Saturday night at Equity Bank Park.

Frisco managed just one run, coming on a ninth-inning home run from Arturo Disla, as Wichita took control early and never surrendered the lead.

The Wind Surge improved to 30-38 in the second half and 54-80 overall, while the RoughRiders fell to 33-35 and 72-64.

Wichita once again struck first, continuing a trend that has defined the series. For the fifth consecutive game, the Wind Surge scored in the opening inning.

Performance Analysis of the Frisco RoughRiders

Against Frisco starter Aidan Curry, Wichita pushed across two runs in the first, with Kyle DeBarge delivering an RBI single to help establish an early 2-0 advantage.

Curry’s outing was brief, as he worked just one inning in his final regular-season start.

The Wind Surge added to the lead in the second inning against Zach Bryant. Marek Houston drove in a run with a single, and Khadim Diaw followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0.

That early cushion was more than enough for Wichita starter Adrian Bohorquez, who kept the RoughRiders off balance and off the scoreboard.

Frisco struggled to string together productive at-bats against Bohorquez and the Wind Surge pitching staff. After producing runs in seven of nine innings during Friday night’s 14-2 victory, the RoughRiders were unable to carry that momentum into Saturday.

Wichita made it 5-0 in the fifth inning when Graham Brown came through with an RBI single.

Frisco’s bullpen did its part to keep the game within reach.

D.J. McCarty followed Curry and provided 3.2 innings of relief, helping stabilize the game after Wichita’s early scoring burst. The RoughRiders’ pitching staff limited further damage after the fifth inning, but the offense could not generate enough pressure to mount a comeback.

Frisco finally broke through in the ninth.

Disla turned on a pitch and sent it over the left-field fence for a solo home run, trimming the deficit to 5-1 and preventing the shutout.

The long ball continued a strong late-season stretch for Disla, who has now homered in consecutive games for the second time in the past two weeks. The blast was his 18th home run as a member of the RoughRiders this season.

Disla has remained one of Frisco’s most consistent power threats down the stretch, giving the lineup a dangerous presence even on a night when scoring opportunities were limited.

The loss leaves Frisco with one final opportunity to finish the regular season on a positive note.

The RoughRiders will close out the campaign Sunday afternoon looking to earn a split of the six-game series against Wichita. Left-hander Thomas Ireland is scheduled to start for Frisco. Ireland enters the finale with a 1-0 record and an 8.51 ERA.

Wichita is expected to counter with right-hander Preston Johnson, who is 1-3 with a 3.89 ERA.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. CT at Equity Bank Park.

For Frisco, Sunday’s finale represents one last chance to respond after an uneven series and carry some momentum out of the regular season.
