STWF Sports| FRISCO, Texas| August 22, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders mounted a late comeback attempt but could not erase an early deficit, falling 7-5 to the Wichita Wind Surge at Riders Field.

Frisco RoughRiders Show Resilience in Tough Loss

Wichita built a six-run advantage over the first two innings before Frisco gradually worked its way back into the game, eventually bringing the potential tying run to the plate in the ninth inning. The loss dropped the RoughRiders to 24-26 in the second half and 63-55 overall, while Wichita improved to 25-25 and 50-67.

Frisco starter Aidan Curry endured a difficult opening inning as the Wind Surge immediately applied pressure. Wichita scored three runs before Curry could complete the frame, forcing the RoughRiders to turn to the bullpen earlier than anticipated.

Bryan Magdaleno entered in relief, but Wichita continued its offensive surge in the second inning. Jake Rucker delivered the biggest blow, launching a three-run home run that extended the Wind Surge advantage to 6-0 after just two frames.

Despite the early hole, Frisco did not allow the game to get away.

The RoughRiders began cutting into the deficit in the third inning when Malcolm Moore connected for a home run. The blast provided Frisco with its first run of the night and marked Moore’s first homer at Riders Field since July 1.

Moore also doubled in the game as he continued to provide power from the middle of the lineup. The first-round catcher now has 17 home runs this season between Double-A Frisco and High-A Hub City.

Frisco added another run in the fourth when Theo Hardy delivered an RBI double, trimming Wichita’s lead to 6-2 and giving the home crowd some life.

The Wind Surge answered, however, when Caden Kendle launched a solo home run to restore a five-run cushion.

Frisco continued battling in the later innings.

Arturo Disla helped lead the comeback effort with another productive night at the plate. Disla collected three hits, including a two-run single in the sixth inning that significantly tightened the contest. His production helped the RoughRiders reduce Wichita’s advantage while keeping pressure on the Wind Surge bullpen.

Yeison Morrobel also contributed an RBI hit as Frisco eventually pulled within two runs at 7-5.

The RoughRiders entered the ninth still within striking distance and managed to bring the potential tying run to the plate, creating one final opportunity to complete the comeback. Wichita reliever Mitch Mueller escaped the threat by recording the final out and preserving the victory.

One of Frisco’s most consistent hitters also extended an impressive streak. Dylan Dreiling recorded an infield single in the sixth inning to extend his season-long hitting streak to 14 games.

While the final result went against Frisco, the offense showed resilience after the early six-run deficit. Moore’s power, Disla’s three-hit performance and late contributions throughout the lineup gave the RoughRiders a chance to steal a game that appeared to be slipping away early.

The loss continued a difficult series for Frisco, which has dropped the first five games against Wichita.

The RoughRiders will attempt to finish the series on a positive note Sunday night at Riders Field.

Left-hander Blake Townsend is scheduled to start for Frisco. Townsend enters with a 4-5 record and 4.98 ERA. Wichita is expected to counter with right-hander Sam Armstrong, who carries a 7-8 record and 4.58 ERA.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. CT as Frisco looks to avoid a series sweep and regain momentum heading into the next stretch of the Texas League schedule.
