STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | August 7, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders erased a three-run deficit with a decisive eighth-inning rally Friday night, coming from behind to defeat the Midland RockHounds 6-4 at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
The victory improved Frisco to 20-17 in the second half and 59-46 overall. Midland fell to 17-20 and 49-56. The six-game series is now tied at two games apiece, while the season series between the clubs is also even at 11-11.
Frisco struck first in the opening inning when Yeison Morrobel delivered an RBI single to give the RoughRiders an early 1-0 advantage.
Frisco RoughRiders Late-Inning Heroics
Midland answered in the third with an RBI groundout before taking control in the middle innings. Leo De Vries gave the RockHounds their first lead with an RBI double in the fifth, and Luke Mann added another run-scoring double in the sixth to stretch the margin to 4-1.
That lead held until the eighth, when Frisco’s offense came alive.
Facing Midland reliever Shohei Tomioka, the RoughRiders began their comeback with a two-run double from Dylan Dreiling, trimming the deficit to 4-3. Morrobel then tied the game with a sacrifice fly, setting the stage for Malcolm Moore.
Moore delivered the biggest hit of the inning, driving in the go-ahead run with an RBI single to give Frisco a 5-4 lead.
The RoughRiders added insurance in the ninth when Arturo Disla brought home another run on an RBI fielder’s choice, extending the advantage to 6-4.
From there, the bullpen finished the job.
Zach Bryant recorded the final six outs to earn his third save of the season, shutting down Midland after the RoughRiders completed their comeback. Janser Lara picked up the victory and improved to 4-1 after throwing a scoreless seventh inning.
Frisco also received strong production from opposite ends of the batting order.
Frainyer Chavez and Theo Hardy each collected three hits, providing steady traffic on the bases throughout the night. Their performances helped support an offense that needed patience before finally breaking through late.
Starter Aidan Curry worked four innings for the RoughRiders, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out six. He kept Frisco within striking distance before the bullpen and offense turned the game in the later innings.
Friday’s result was especially important after Frisco had dropped the previous two games of the series, including a 4-0 shutout Thursday night.
The RoughRiders have made late-inning production a major part of their identity this season, and the comeback in Midland was another example. After being held to one run through seven innings, Frisco scored four times in the eighth and added another in the ninth.
That late push flipped a game that appeared to be slipping away and restored momentum in a tightly contested series.
The RoughRiders and RockHounds will meet again Saturday night in game five of the six-game set.
First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Momentum Bank Ballpark. Frisco has not yet announced its starting pitcher, while right-hander Zane Taylor is slated to start for Midland. Taylor enters the matchup with an 0-0 record and a 5.79 ERA.
With both the current series and season series tied, Saturday’s game offers Frisco an opportunity to move back in front and put itself in position to win the series finale on Sunday.
