STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | August 6, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders were held off the scoreboard Thursday night, falling 4-0 to the Midland RockHounds at Momentum Bank Ballpark in the third game of their six-game series.
The loss dropped Frisco to 19-17 in the second half and 58-46 overall, while Midland improved to 17-19 and 49-55.
Frisco starter Dylan MacLean gave the RoughRiders a competitive outing, but the offense was unable to provide support.
Midland struck first in the opening inning, taking advantage of a Frisco error to push across an unearned run. It marked the seventh time in the last nine games the RoughRiders have surrendered a run in the first inning, continuing a recent trend of playing from behind early.
MacLean settled in after the opening frame and kept the RockHounds quiet through the middle innings.
The left-hander did not issue a walk and limited Midland’s opportunities until the sixth, when Luke Mann connected on a solo home run that extended the RockHounds’ lead to 2-0 and ended MacLean’s night.
MacLean finished with 5.2 innings pitched, allowing two runs — only one earned — while striking out four. He took the loss and fell to 7-3.
The game remained within reach until the seventh.
Midland capitalized on two more RoughRiders errors and a pair of hits to score twice, stretching the advantage to 4-0. Frisco’s defensive miscues played a major role in the outcome, with three of Midland’s four runs coming in innings that included RoughRiders errors.
At the plate, Frisco had few answers for Nathan Dettmer.
The Midland right-hander turned in his best start of the season, working 6.1 scoreless innings while striking out nine and not issuing a walk. Dettmer improved to 1-2 with the victory.
Kenya Huggins handled the rest, pitching 2.2 scoreless innings to earn his third save and complete the shutout.
The RoughRiders managed little sustained pressure against the Midland pitching staff.
Arturo Disla provided one early highlight, singling in the first inning and stealing his first base at the Double-A level. Frisco, however, could not turn that opportunity into a run.
The shutout was the seventh of the season for the RoughRiders and their third in the last 10 games, a notable downturn for an offense that has spent much of the year among the Texas League’s most productive units.
Frisco entered the series with one of the strongest combinations of power and late-inning scoring in Double-A, but Midland has controlled the last two games after the RoughRiders opened the set with a 14-4 victory Tuesday.
Since that offensive eruption, Frisco has scored just one run over the last 18 innings.
One positive came from the bullpen, where Bryan Magdaleno worked 1.1 scoreless innings to keep the deficit from growing further.
The RoughRiders will look to reset Friday night in game four of the series.
Right-hander Aidan Curry is scheduled to start for Frisco. Curry enters with a 3-2 record and a 5.13 ERA, while Midland has yet to announce its starter.
First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
After dropping consecutive games and being shut out Thursday, Frisco will need a stronger offensive response to even the series and regain momentum on the road.
