STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | August 12, 2026 — Max Wagner delivered the biggest swing of the night Wednesday at Riders Field, blasting a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Frisco RoughRiders to a 7-3 victory over the San Antonio Missions.
Frisco trailed 3-0 entering the sixth inning and had been held off the scoreboard through five frames, but the RoughRiders responded with seven unanswered runs to even the six-game series at one game apiece.
Wagner was at the center of nearly everything offensively, finishing with six RBIs and providing the dramatic finish against former Texas Rangers reliever and World Series champion Jose Leclerc.
The game opened as a pitcher’s duel, with both starters retiring the first six hitters they faced in order.
Max Wagner’s Impact in the Game
San Antonio broke through first in the third inning when Carson Tucker tripled home a run against Frisco starter D.J. McCarty. The Missions added another run in the fourth and eventually built a 3-0 advantage before turning the game over to their bullpen.
San Antonio starter Fernando Sanchez kept Frisco quiet through five scoreless innings, preventing the RoughRiders from creating any early momentum.
That changed in the sixth.
Wagner drove in Frisco’s first run with an RBI single, cutting the deficit to 3-1 and giving the Riders their first sign of offensive life.
Meanwhile, the Frisco bullpen began to take control.
Leandro Lopez, making his first appearance since May after returning from the injured list, tossed two scoreless innings and struck out four. His outing gave the RoughRiders enough time to mount another late comeback.
Frisco made its move in the eighth.
Wagner again delivered an RBI before Ian Moller drove in another run to tie the game at 3-3. What had been a three-run deficit only two innings earlier had suddenly turned into a completely different contest.
Reliever Eric Loomis kept the momentum on Frisco’s side by throwing a scoreless top of the ninth, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
The RoughRiders loaded the bases in the bottom half against Leclerc, creating the matchup everyone at Riders Field would remember.
Wagner worked the at-bat deep, seeing eight pitches before attacking the ninth.
He drove the offering out for a game-ending grand slam, sending Frisco’s dugout onto the field and completing the comeback in emphatic fashion.
The home run gave Wagner long balls in back-to-back games to open the series after he also homered in Tuesday’s 7-4 loss.
Wednesday’s blast pushed his career-high season total to 15 home runs.
Wagner’s six RBIs also matched the highest total by a RoughRider in a single game this season. Orlando Martinez previously drove in six runs against Amarillo in April.
The victory improved Frisco to 21-20 in the second half and 60-48 overall, while San Antonio dropped to 19-22 and 50-60.
For the RoughRiders, the win also reinforced a familiar theme. Frisco has repeatedly produced offense in the late innings this season, and Wednesday’s comeback was another example of a lineup capable of changing a game quickly.
After scoring just once through the first seven innings, the Riders pushed across six runs over the final two frames.
With the series now even, Frisco will turn to left-hander Dylan MacLean on Thursday night.
MacLean enters at 7-3 with a 4.32 ERA and will face San Antonio right-hander Eric Yost, who is 5-2 with a 3.13 ERA.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT at Riders Field.
