STWF Sports| FRISCO, Texas| September 9, 2026 — Paxton Kling made an immediate impact in his first Double-A appearance, helping propel the Frisco RoughRiders to a 7-5 victory over the Wichita Wind Surge on Wednesday night at Equity Bank Park.

Kling finished his debut with two hits, three RBIs and a stolen base while starting in center field and batting seventh. His production helped Frisco improve to 32-33 in the second half and 71-62 overall, while Wichita fell to 28-37 and 52-79.

Frisco RoughRiders: A Rising Force in Minor League Baseball

For the second consecutive night, the Wind Surge struck first. Wichita pushed across a run in the bottom of the first inning when Jaime Ferrer drew a bases-loaded walk against Frisco starter Ben Anderson.

The RoughRiders answered in the third inning. Kling delivered the first big swing of his Double-A career with an RBI double that helped spark a two-run frame. Ian Moller followed with another run-producing hit, giving Frisco a 2-1 advantage.

Wichita responded immediately in the bottom half. Graham Brown led off the inning with a solo home run off Anderson, pulling the Wind Surge even at 2-2.

The game turned decisively in the fifth inning when Frisco’s offense came alive with two outs.

The RoughRiders strung together four consecutive two-out hits against Wichita right-hander Darren Bowen. Kling again found himself in the middle of the rally, driving in two runs on a broken-bat single as Frisco surged in front 6-2.

Kling’s ability to contribute in multiple situations highlighted an impressive first look at the Double-A level. He not only delivered in run-scoring opportunities but also added a stolen base, giving the RoughRiders another dynamic element offensively.

Frisco’s bullpen then took control.

Leandro Lopez and Josh Trentadue combined to retire all 10 batters they faced, keeping Wichita’s offense quiet through the middle innings. Their work allowed the RoughRiders to maintain a comfortable cushion after the offense added another run in the seventh on a wild pitch, extending the lead to 7-2.

Wichita refused to go away.

The Wind Surge mounted a late rally in the eighth inning, scoring three runs and trimming Frisco’s advantage to 7-5. With the momentum beginning to shift, Austin Roberts entered and shut the door.

Roberts recorded the final four outs to secure his third save of the season, an impressive transition back into the closer role after starting Friday’s game against Amarillo.

Frisco’s situational hitting proved critical throughout the night. Between the fourth and fifth innings alone, the RoughRiders collected seven hits with two outs, repeatedly extending innings and creating additional scoring opportunities.

The victory evened the six-game series at one game apiece and gave Frisco a chance to build momentum as the regular season moves toward its conclusion.

The RoughRiders will look for their second straight win Thursday night at Equity Bank Park. Right-hander Cole Stasio (1-1, 5.34 ERA) is scheduled to start for Frisco against Wichita right-hander Ty Langenberg (1-6, 3.81 ERA).

First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
