STWF Sports | SAN ANTONIO, Texas | July 25, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders saw their three-game winning streak come to an end Saturday night, falling 4-3 to the San Antonio Missions at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium.
Highlights of the San Antonio Missions’ Recent Performance
Frisco opened the game with immediate pressure, scoring twice in the first inning against San Antonio starter Andrew Thurman. Sebastian Walcott, Arturo Disla and Keith Jones II each delivered doubles during the inning as the RoughRiders quickly built a 2-0 advantage.
The lead did not last long.
San Antonio answered in the bottom half of the first when Jake Cunningham connected on a two-run home run against Frisco left-hander Dalton Pence. Cunningham’s blast erased the early deficit and tied the game at 2-2.
Frisco reclaimed the lead in the second inning behind another productive at-bat from Walcott. The Texas Rangers’ top prospect lined an RBI single to score the go-ahead run and give the RoughRiders a 3-2 advantage.
Walcott continued his impressive return to the Frisco lineup, recording his fifth multi-hit performance in only seven games since rejoining the club. His combination of extra-base power, speed and consistent contact has provided a significant boost near the top of the RoughRiders’ order.
After Walcott’s second-inning single, however, Frisco’s offense went quiet.
San Antonio’s pitching staff retired 20 consecutive RoughRiders hitters, preventing Frisco from adding to its one-run lead. The stretch covered the remainder of Thurman’s outing and continued through the Missions’ bullpen, which successfully protected the lead once San Antonio moved ahead.
Cunningham again delivered the key hit for the Missions in the fifth inning. His RBI double against Pence drove in the tying run and made it 3-3.
Pence entered the night with a 2.49 ERA and was tasked with extending Frisco’s 20-inning scoreless streak. That run ended immediately with Cunningham’s first-inning home run, and the San Antonio outfielder remained the primary source of offense throughout the contest.
The Missions took their first lead in the sixth inning against Frisco reliever Zach Bryant. San Antonio pushed across the go-ahead run to make it 4-3, handing Bryant his third loss of the season.
Once the Missions moved in front, Josh Mallitz closed the door.
Mallitz covered the final three innings without allowing Frisco to mount a comeback, earning his fourth save of the year. The right-hander completed a dominant finishing stretch for the San Antonio pitching staff, which did not allow another RoughRider to reach safely after the second inning.
Thurman earned the victory and improved to 2-5, while the Missions moved to 12-14 in the second half and 43-52 overall.
Despite the loss, Disla extended his hitting streak to 11 games with his first-inning double. The Frisco infielder has remained one of the club’s most consistent offensive contributors during the series.
Dylan Dreiling’s hitting streak ended at 12 games after he went 0-for-4. The streak was the longest by a RoughRiders player this season and included several multi-hit performances, extra-base hits and key run-producing at-bats.
Frisco fell to 15-11 in the second half and 54-40 overall. The loss also prevented the RoughRiders from clinching a series victory after winning three consecutive games, including back-to-back shutouts Thursday and Friday.
The Riders had outscored San Antonio 13-0 during those two shutout victories before the Missions responded Saturday with timely hitting and dominant relief pitching.
Frisco will have another opportunity to secure the series in Sunday’s finale. Left-hander Blake Townsend, who enters with a 3-4 record and a 5.35 ERA, is scheduled to start for the RoughRiders against San Antonio right-hander Eric Yost, who is 4-2 with a 3.41 ERA.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. at Nelson Wolff Stadium.
