STWF Sports| FRISCO, Texas| September 8, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders opened their final series of the regular season with an 8-2 loss to the Wichita Wind Surge on Tuesday night at Equity Bank Park.
Frisco fell to 31-33 in the second half and 70-62 overall, while Wichita improved to 28-36 in the second half and 52-78 for the season.
The Wind Surge struck first in the bottom of the opening inning when Caden Kendle launched a solo home run off Frisco starter Ismael Agreda, giving Wichita an early 1-0 advantage.
Frisco answered in the third inning behind one of the hottest bats in the organization. Sebastian Walcott turned the game around temporarily with a two-run home run, putting the RoughRiders in front 2-1.
The blast continued a torrid stretch for the Texas Rangers’ top prospect. Walcott has now hit six home runs over his last eight games and has nine homers through his first 32 games with Frisco this season.
Wichita responded immediately, however, and Kendle once again delivered the decisive blow.
After two runners reached base, Kendle connected for his second home run of the night, this time a three-run shot that pushed the Wind Surge back in front 4-2. The two-homer performance gave Wichita all the offense it needed to seize control of the series opener.
The Wind Surge continued to apply pressure in the fourth inning, scoring three more runs to extend their lead to 7-2. Frisco’s offense was unable to generate another rally after Walcott’s third-inning homer, allowing Wichita to maintain a comfortable advantage through the middle innings.
Agreda, making his first appearance of the season for the RoughRiders, took the loss and dropped to 0-1.
Frisco did receive a strong performance from the bullpen, particularly Zach Bryant. The right-hander worked three innings in relief without allowing an earned run, continuing an impressive stretch of extended outings.
Bryant has now pitched at least two innings in seven consecutive appearances, giving Frisco valuable length out of the bullpen during a season in which the relief corps has been called upon heavily.
Wichita added one final insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning when Graham Brown delivered an RBI single, extending the Wind Surge advantage to 8-2.
From there, right-hander Sam Armstrong closed the door on any possibility of a late Frisco comeback. Armstrong worked four innings in relief and secured his first save of the season.
The loss marked a difficult start to Frisco’s final six-game set before postseason play. The RoughRiders have already secured a playoff berth after winning the Texas League South Division first-half championship, but the closing stretch of the regular season provides an opportunity to sharpen the roster before the postseason begins.
Walcott’s continued power surge remains one of the most encouraging developments for Frisco. Since returning from right elbow surgery earlier this season, the 20-year-old has quickly become a major presence in the middle of the lineup and has provided another dangerous bat alongside Dylan Dreiling and Max Wagner.
Frisco will attempt to bounce back and even the series Wednesday night at Equity Bank Park.
Right-hander Ben Anderson is scheduled to start for the RoughRiders. Anderson enters with a 3-6 record and 6.85 ERA. Wichita will counter with right-hander Preston Johnson, who is 1-3 with a 3.86 ERA.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CT.
