STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | July 18, 2026 — Former Frisco RoughRiders right-hander Emiliano Teodo officially completed his journey to the major leagues Friday night, making his MLB debut for the Texas Rangers against the Atlanta Braves.
Emiliano Teod: A Rising Star in Major League Baseball
Teodo became the eighth former RoughRiders player to reach the majors during the 2026 season and will be added to Frisco’s Road to the Show wall, presented by Avondale Dealerships. His promotion also made him the 233rd player in RoughRiders franchise history to appear in a major league game.
The 25-year-old reliever immediately showed the power arsenal that made him one of the most electric pitchers in the Rangers’ minor league system.
Teodo worked 1.2 innings out of the Texas bullpen and recorded his first major league strikeout against Atlanta first baseman Matt Olson, an established MLB All-Star and one of baseball’s most accomplished power hitters.
His velocity also made an immediate impression.
Teodo delivered seven pitches at 100 mph or faster during his debut, moving him ahead of veteran starter Jacob deGrom for the Rangers’ team lead in triple-digit pitches during the entire 2026 season. The display offered a clear glimpse of the premium arm strength that fueled Teodo’s rise through the organization.
The Barahona, Dominican Republic, native earned his promotion after a productive season with Triple-A Round Rock. Teodo recorded a 3.76 ERA across 35 relief appearances for the Express, striking out 52 batters in 40.2 innings.
His ability to miss bats remained one of his defining qualities at the highest level of the minor leagues. Teodo averaged more than 11 strikeouts per nine innings with Round Rock while continuing his transition from a starter into a bullpen role.
He first reached Triple-A during the 2025 season, making 14 appearances for the Express after spending portions of two years with Frisco.
Teodo’s most dominant minor league campaign came with the RoughRiders in 2024.
Working as a full-time starter during his first Double-A season, the right-hander produced a 1.98 ERA over 19 starts. He struck out 110 batters in 86.1 innings while establishing himself as one of the most effective pitchers in the Texas League.
That performance earned Teodo several prominent honors. He was selected to start for the American League in the 2024 MLB Futures Game, an annual showcase featuring many of baseball’s top prospects. Baseball America also recognized him as a Double-A All-Star.
Teodo returned to Frisco during the 2025 season before advancing to Round Rock, continuing a development path that eventually placed him in the Rangers’ bullpen.
His major league debut provided another example of Frisco’s role in developing talent for Texas. The RoughRiders have consistently served as a critical step for prospects learning to compete against advanced hitters before moving closer to the majors.
Teodo joins Gavin Collyer, Peyton Gray, Robbie Ahlstrom, Mitch Bratt, Cam Cauley, Winston Santos and Abimelec Ortiz as former RoughRiders who have made their MLB debuts during the 2026 season.
For Teodo, Friday represented the reward for years of development, adjustments and steady progress through the Rangers’ system. His first appearance was brief, but the combination of elite velocity and strikeout potential created an encouraging opening impression.
After establishing himself as a dominant starter in Frisco and refining his game in the Round Rock bullpen, Teodo has now reached baseball’s highest level. His next challenge will be turning that powerful debut into a lasting role with the Rangers.
