STWF Sports | Feb. 21, 2026 | FRISCO, Texas — A new MLS season brings familiar expectations and renewed ambition for FC Dallas, a club that enters Matchday One carrying both statistical momentum and unfinished business. As the Hoops prepare to open the campaign at Toyota Stadium against Toronto FC, the numbers from 2025 tell the story of a team that proved resilient, dangerous in spurts, and increasingly difficult to break down—particularly on home soil.
Dallas closed last season riding an eight-match unbeaten run from Aug. 9 through Oct. 11, a stretch that included a five-game home sequence without defeat. Consistency in front of goal defined much of the year, as Dallas scored in 12 consecutive matches dating back to July 16 and found the net in 10 straight games at Toyota Stadium since June 25. That reliability in attack helped Dallas remain competitive even during taxing stretches of the schedule.
Road form was another defining feature. Dallas went unbeaten in its first six away matches from Feb. 22 to May 3, the longest road-opening streak in club history. Only two other MLS teams in the past decade—the Philadelphia Union in 2024 and New York Red Bulls in 2022—have accomplished the same feat. That stretch included a dramatic April 27 comeback victory at Miami, where Dallas erased a two-goal deficit to win 4–3, marking the club’s second multi-goal comeback of the season and its first such result since 2011.
The physical toll of the schedule was evident. Dallas logged more than 15,500 miles during April and May alone, including an 8,339-mile span over three road matches in May. Despite that travel burden, the team showed balance in its scoring profile, finishing with 24 first-half goals and 28 after halftime. When leading at the break, Dallas was particularly efficient, posting a 7-2-1 record.
Defensively, the Hoops leaned into physicality and structure. Dallas ranked fifth in MLS in aerial challenges won and finished first in clearances, reflecting a group comfortable absorbing pressure when necessary. That said, fine margins often dictated results. Dallas went 6-7-0 in one-goal matches and finished 4-10-8 when conceding first, underscoring the importance of early control—especially against an opponent like Toronto that has historically grown into matches late.
Individual performances shaped the campaign. Forward Petar Musa delivered one of the most productive seasons in club history, scoring 18 goals and recording 25 goal contributions. Over the past two seasons, Musa has totaled 35 goals, the most ever by a Dallas player across a two-year span. His efficiency inside the penalty area and ability to convert clear-cut chances elevated Dallas’ attack into the league’s upper tier.
Young contributors also emerged. Logan Farrington recorded his first professional brace, Shaq Moore enjoyed a career-best scoring year, and goalkeeper Michael Collodi became just the second FC Dallas Homegrown keeper to appear in MLS—doing so with a clean sheet and a win in his debut. Those moments reinforced the club’s long-standing commitment to internal development.
History also favors Dallas in this fixture. At home, FC Dallas holds an 8-0-3 all-time regular-season record against Toronto, with a 22-10 goal advantage. Overall, Dallas owns a 12-4-6 record in all competitions against the Canadian side, with every MLS defeat in the series coming on the road. Late goals have often defined the matchup, with Dallas scoring 10 times between minutes 76 and 90 against Toronto—the most productive window in the series.
Saturday’s opener also reflects the continued evolution under head coach Eric Quill, who enters his second MLS season at the helm. Quill brings championship pedigree from multiple levels, including a USL League One title and deep cup runs, and he opened his Dallas tenure last year by defeating rival Houston on opening day.
As the curtain rises on a new campaign, the message for FC Dallas is clear: last season’s resilience and growth have set a foundation. Now, with history on its side and expectations rising, Dallas aims to turn promising trends into a fast start—beginning with a familiar foe at Toyota Stadium.
