FRISCO, Texas (Sept. 20, 2025) — FC Dallas extended its unbeaten run to six matches and climbed into ninth place in the Western Conference with a 3-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Hispanic and Latino Heritage Night at Toyota Stadium. Goals from Petar Musa, Christian Cappis, and a second-half own goal powered Dallas to its second consecutive win and further fueled its late-season playoff push.
Musa Opens the Scoring
Dallas wasted little time asserting itself in front of a sold-out crowd of 11,004. In the 14th minute, Petar Musa headed home his 16th goal of the season, equaling his tally from 2024. The Croatian forward timed his run perfectly to meet a pinpoint cross from Logan Farrington, who collected his fourth assist of the campaign.
The goal was Musa’s first headed strike of the year and gave Dallas an early lift. It also extended a remarkable partnership with Farrington, as Dallas is now 3-0-1 when Farrington records an assist in 2025.
Cappis Finds Breakthrough Moment
Colorado equalized midway through the first half, but Dallas didn’t let the momentum swing last long. In the 36th minute, Christian Cappis netted his first MLS goal, a composed finish inside the area after a clever pass from Patrickson Delgado, who moved into second on the team with five assists this season.
The goal capped what has been a steady rise for Cappis since joining Dallas during the summer transfer window. “It’s a great moment,” the midfielder said postgame. “It’s taken years of hard work to get here, but to score tonight and help the team win feels fantastic.”
Rapids’ Own Goal Seals It
Dallas put the match beyond reach in the 80th minute when Pedrinho’s shot deflected off a Rapids defender and into the net, handing the hosts their third goal. The own goal marked Dallas’ first of the season and secured the three points.
Defensive Strength and Goalkeeper Stability
The Dallas backline and goalkeeper Jacob Jackson turned in another solid performance. Jackson, who recently earned MLS Player of the Matchday honors, anchored a defense that conceded just once and limited the Rapids’ clear chances. The 23-year-old has now posted 161 consecutive scoreless minutes across his last two starts and continues to build confidence in net.
Streaks and Milestones
The victory continued Dallas’ steady climb:
-
Unbeaten in six matches overall since Aug. 9.
-
Four straight home matches without defeat.
-
Scored in nine consecutive games dating back to July 16.
-
Extended sellout streak to 33 consecutive home matches, despite ongoing renovations on the east side of Toyota Stadium.
Historically, Dallas now holds a 27-9-8 home record against Colorado and leads the all-time series 36-30-20.
Postgame Reactions
Head coach Eric Quill praised his side’s composure and fitness. “From start to finish, this might be our best performance of the season,” Quill said. “We were aggressive, we played with intent, and we didn’t let mistakes knock us down. The subs came in and raised the level. Every guy is playing with heart, and that’s what it takes.”
Musa, who now sits just shy of Dallas’ single-season scoring record, emphasized the bigger picture. “Every game is a final for us right now,” he said. “I’m happy to score, but what matters is that we’re winning and keeping our playoff hopes alive.”
Cappis added that the mood inside the locker room is buzzing. “The guys are mixing well, the vibes are great, and we’re building momentum. We know what’s at stake, and we’re ready for the fight.”
