FRISCO, Texas (Oct. 4, 2025) – FC Dallas capped off its 2025 home campaign in style, defeating the LA Galaxy 2-1 on Saturday night at Toyota Stadium to keep its postseason hopes alive. Behind a record-tying performance from Petar Musa and a clutch strike from Patrickson Delgado, the win extended Dallas’ unbeaten run to eight matches while closing out the regular season home schedule before another sellout crowd.
Musa Joins Elite Company
Forward Petar Musa continued his sensational debut MLS season, scoring his team-leading 18th goal in the 35th minute off a pinpoint assist from Christian Cappis. The goal not only gave Dallas momentum but etched Musa’s name into club history.
The Croatian forward became just the fourth player in FC Dallas history to record 18 goals in a single season, joining Jason Kreis (1999), Kenny Cooper (2008), and Jesús Ferreira (2022). His goal-scoring streak also extended to five consecutive matches, the third longest in MLS this year.
“It means a lot,” Musa said postgame. “But for me, the most important thing is that we took three points today, in front of our fans and families. We’re catching form at the right moment.”
Musa’s consistency has been a driving force in Dallas’ late-season surge, his movement and chemistry with fellow forward Logan Farrington continuing to create problems for opposing defenses.
Delgado Delivers
After conceding early, Dallas responded with urgency. In the 35th minute, Musa’s equalizer restored balance, and just before halftime, Patrickson Delgado delivered the game-winner.
The Ecuadorian midfielder struck from outside the box to put Dallas ahead 2-1, scoring his first goal of the season and fifth of his career. Each of his last two goals have been game-winners for the club, underscoring his knack for big moments.
“He’s been knocking on the door,” said head coach Eric Quill. “He strikes a heavy ball, and those kinds of goals are in his profile. Hopefully, this gives him a boost because goals bring confidence.”
Delgado’s goal electrified the sellout crowd and gave Dallas all the cushion it needed. The midfielder later reflected on the team’s belief and resilience, key traits that have defined this late-season run.
“At first, nobody believed in us,” Delgado said. “But coach Quill always talks about resilience, and we’ve had a lot of that. I want to give the fans the joy they deserve because they’ve supported us through everything.”
Team Resilience and Defensive Grit
While the first half showcased Dallas’ attacking flair, the second half was about discipline. The defense absorbed late pressure from the Galaxy, whose season-long struggles continued with the loss.
Quill praised his team’s mentality and collective fight, particularly after conceding early.
“I didn’t like our start, but the competitiveness in the group to find the goal showed,” Quill said. “At halftime, we talked about not letting them creep back in late because that’s what they’re known for. Everyone fought with purpose tonight.”
The win stretched Dallas’ unbeaten streak to eight matches (4-0-4) since Aug. 9, a run highlighted by balance and belief. Dallas has also scored in 11 consecutive matches, its longest streak of the season.
Pomykal Returns and Hedges Honored
A major highlight of the evening was the emotional return of Paxton Pomykal, who entered the match in stoppage time after being sidelined for 140 days due to injury. The Homegrown midfielder’s appearance drew a loud ovation from the Toyota Stadium faithful.
The club also celebrated one of its all-time greats, Matt Hedges, who officially retired as a member of FC Dallas after signing a ceremonial one-day contract. The former captain addressed media before the match, closing a chapter that spanned over a decade in Dallas colors.
Playoff Push and Sellout Success
With the victory, FC Dallas improved to 10-11-11 (41 points) and moved into eighth place in the Western Conference. That position would allow them to host the Western Conference Wild Card match when the Audi 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs begin later this month.
The club also extended its sellout streak to 34 consecutive matches, marking the second straight season of full-capacity home attendance despite ongoing east-side renovations at Toyota Stadium.
As Dallas looks toward the final two matches of the regular season, the message remains clear: confidence is high, and belief runs deep.
“We’re a different team now,” Quill said. “There’s purpose, there’s chemistry, and there’s honesty in every position. That’s why we’re finding ways to win.”
