FRISCO, Texas (Feb. 21, 2026) — FC Dallas opened the 2026 MLS season in dramatic fashion Saturday night, holding off Toronto FC for a 3–2 victory in front of a sold-out Toyota Stadium crowd of 11,004.
Powered by a lethal attacking partnership, Dallas leaned on the combined firepower of Petar Musa and Logan Farrington, who accounted for all three goals as the hosts secured their first three points of the campaign.
Musa wasted little time announcing his presence in the new season. The Croatian international struck in the ninth minute, finishing a sharp early move to give Dallas an immediate advantage. The goal set the tone for an aggressive, front-footed opening stretch that reflected the identity head coach Eric Quill has emphasized since taking the reins.
Toronto responded with urgency and eventually leveled the match, capitalizing on a momentary lapse that allowed the visitors back into the contest. But Dallas quickly reasserted control in the 38th minute when Farrington restored the lead. Latching onto a long ball from Musa, Farrington showed composure and strength to finish, giving the hosts a 2–1 edge heading into halftime.
The goal marked Farrington’s first of the season and the 10th of his MLS career, a milestone that made him the fastest — and only — player from the 2024 MLS SuperDraft class to reach double-digit goals. It also continued the growing trend of success when Musa and Farrington find the scoresheet together, as Dallas improved to 4-2-0 in matches where both players score.
Toronto once again refused to go away, drawing level early in the second half and testing Dallas’ resolve. The visitors’ equalizer made it clear that opening night would not come easily, but the Hoops responded with maturity and belief.
That belief paid off in the 74th minute when Musa delivered the decisive blow. Rising above his marker, he buried a header to complete his brace and reclaim the lead for good. The two-goal performance placed Musa alongside club legends Jorge “Zarco” Rodríguez and Ariel Graziani as the only players in FC Dallas history to score a brace in a season opener. With the goals, Musa also tied Blas Pérez for fourth on the club’s all-time scoring list with 36.
Defensively, Dallas bent but did not break in the closing stages. Toronto pressed forward in search of a third equalizer, but key interventions and disciplined positioning helped the home side protect the narrow advantage. In the 92nd minute, midfielder Ran Binyamin entered the match to help close it out, marking his MLS debut after arriving during the offseason.
Another debut came on the back line, where wingback Herman Johansson earned his first MLS start. Johansson was tested early and often but showed flashes of the pace and work rate that made him an offseason target.
The night also carried personal significance for defender Shaq Moore, who made his 100th MLS regular-season appearance. Moore, who joined Dallas last season after a stint with Nashville SC, has become a steady presence on the right side of the back line.
The victory improved Dallas’ all-time season-opening record to 16-5-10, including a 14-5-9 mark in home openers. It also extended the club’s sellout streak to 35 consecutive home matches, even as Toyota Stadium continues to undergo renovations.
Dallas will look to build on the momentum next Saturday when it hosts Nashville SC at 7:30 p.m. in a Festival of Colors matchup. The match will air on Apple TV, with radio coverage available through the FC Dallas app.
For one night, though, opening weekend belonged to Dallas — and to the attacking duo that set the standard for what the 2026 season could become.
