MLS Match Recap: “From 2-0 Up to 3-2 Down—Dallas Responds with Grit in Electrifying 4-3 Victory”

STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | March 21, 2026 — In a Texas Derby that delivered chaos, controversy, and clutch heroics, FC Dallas (2-1-2, 8 points) stormed back to defeat Houston Dynamo FC (2-2-0, 6 points) 4-3 Saturday night at Toyota Stadium, fueled by a late winner from Petar Musa and an electric home crowd that refused to let the night slip away.

The match opened with early tension and no score through the first four minutes, but FC Dallas quickly seized control behind a blistering attacking start. Logan Farrington ignited the home side in the 6th minute, finishing a precise ball from Shaq Moore to give Dallas a 1-0 lead. The forward doubled the advantage just minutes later, striking again at the 14:47 mark off an assist from Joaquín Valiente, capping a dominant opening stretch.

Farrington’s brace—his second of his MLS career—marked one of the fastest in club history and underscored his growing importance in Dallas’ attack. At 2-0 inside 15 minutes, FC Dallas appeared firmly in command.

But the match quickly flipped.

Houston began to claw back into the contest following a yellow card issued to Mateusz Ponce in the 20th minute, a moment that seemed to spark the visitors’ urgency. Guiherme pulled one back at 28:17, igniting Houston’s momentum before Erik Sviatchenko leveled the match at 2-2 in the 31st minute.

The turnaround stunned the home crowd—and it wasn’t over.

Just two minutes later, Lawrence Ennali completed a remarkable three-goal surge, giving Houston a 3-2 lead at 33:13. In a matter of minutes, Dallas’ early dominance evaporated as defensive lapses and a loss of composure allowed the Dynamo to take full control.

Dallas nearly found an equalizer before halftime when Herman Johansson forced a strong save at 41:20, but Houston held its lead heading into the break. Sviatchenko received a yellow card just before halftime, capping an emotional and physical first half with Houston leading 3-2.

Out of the locker room, FC Dallas responded with urgency.

Petar Musa, introduced at halftime, immediately changed the tempo. His presence helped Dallas find an equalizer in the 54th minute, as the match leveled at 3-3. Musa’s impact extended beyond scoring—his movement and physicality disrupted Houston’s defensive shape and reignited Dallas’ attack.

The defining moment arrived in the 68th minute when Sviatchenko was shown a red card, reducing Houston to 10 men. The stadium erupted as drums pounded and horns blared, sensing an opportunity for Dallas to capitalize.

Despite the man advantage, Houston remained resilient, holding the 3-3 deadlock deep into the second half. But Dallas continued to press, and the breakthrough finally came in the 86th minute.

Valiente delivered a pinpoint cross into the box, and Musa rose to the moment, finishing clinically to give FC Dallas a 4-3 lead. The crowd erupted into chants of “Musa” as the forward secured his seventh career game-winning goal and his sixth of the season.

From there, Dallas held firm, closing out a dramatic victory that showcased both their attacking firepower and mental resilience.

Head coach Eric Quill praised his squad’s response after the match, emphasizing the team’s character and belief. “We’re dogs,” Quill said. “This group fights for each other and never gives up. That mentality showed tonight.”

The win also marked a milestone for defender Sebastien Ibeagha, who made his 100th MLS appearance for the club, while goalkeeper Michael Collodi added a rare secondary assist on Farrington’s opener.

With the victory, FC Dallas extended its sellout streak to 38 consecutive regular-season matches, drawing 11,004 fans in a charged Toyota Stadium atmosphere.

Dallas now heads into the international break with momentum before returning to action April 4 against D.C. United. If Saturday night proved anything, it’s that this FC Dallas side thrives in adversity—and in front of a roaring home crowd, they’re never out of a fight.
