STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | Aug. 3, 2026 — FC Dallas goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois has been rewarded for one of the strongest performances of his career, earning a place in the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for Matchday 19.
Sirois was selected as the starting goalkeeper on the league’s Matchday 19 squad after delivering a career-high nine saves in FC Dallas’ scoreless draw against the LA Galaxy on Aug. 1 at Dignity Health Sports Park.
The recognition marks Sirois’ first Team of the Matchday Starting XI selection of the 2026 season and adds another encouraging moment to his first campaign with FC Dallas.
Jonathan Sirois: Rising Star of the Goalkeeping World
The Canadian goalkeeper was instrumental in helping Dallas leave Southern California with a point. Facing consistent pressure from the Galaxy, Sirois repeatedly came through with timely stops while helping FC Dallas record its fourth clean sheet of the season.
His nine saves established a new career high, and he also won every aerial duel he contested during the match. The performance helped Dallas secure a 0-0 draw despite being tested throughout the evening.
The clean sheet was also Sirois’ first since joining FC Dallas.
His impact with the club began earlier this season. Sirois made his FC Dallas debut on May 16 in a 3-2 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes, recording five saves in the win. His debut included one of the most important plays of the match when he denied a penalty kick, immediately giving Dallas a glimpse of the shot-stopping ability he could provide.
Since then, Sirois has continued to compete for opportunities and build confidence in the FC Dallas goal.
The LaSalle, Quebec, native now joins a growing list of Dallas players recognized by MLS throughout the 2026 season.
Forward Petar Musa has been the club’s most frequent Team of the Matchday selection, earning Starting XI honors in Matchdays 1, 4 and 8. Musa was also named Player of the Matchday following his Matchday 4 performance.
Logan Farrington earned a bench selection in Matchday 1 before moving into the Starting XI for Matchweek 5. Defender Osaze Urhoghide received Starting XI recognition in Matchdays 2 and 6, while Kaick and Sam Sarver have also represented FC Dallas on Team of the Matchday benches this year.
Sirois now becomes the latest name added to that list.
The Matchday 19 Starting XI featured several notable players across MLS. Sirois was joined by defenders Kai Wagner, Neil Pierre and Brandon Bye. The midfield included Guilherme, Evander, Carles Gil and Philip Zinckernagel, while Mijahir Jiménez, Robert Lewandowski and Luis Suárez were selected at forward.
Portland coach Jack Cassidy received the coaching honor for the matchday.
For FC Dallas, Sirois’ recognition reinforces what was already clear from Saturday’s result: the goalkeeper was central to the club’s ability to secure a road point.
Dallas was unable to find a breakthrough offensively against the Galaxy, but its defensive structure, combined with Sirois’ work in goal, ensured the club came away with something from the match.
The timing of the performance is particularly important as FC Dallas shifts its focus toward Leagues Cup competition. Dallas is scheduled to open tournament play against Liga MX side Querétaro FC on Aug. 5 at Texas Health Mansfield Stadium.
With Sirois coming off the best statistical save performance of his career and his first FC Dallas clean sheet, the club enters its next challenge with another goalkeeper showing he can deliver when called upon.
For Sirois, the Matchday 19 honor provides league-wide recognition for a performance that helped preserve an important road result—and another significant milestone in his first season with FC Dallas.
