STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | June 5, 2026 — North Texas SC has added one of the most intriguing young attacking prospects in American soccer.
The club announced Thursday that it has signed forward Da’vian Kimbrough on loan from USL Championship side Sacramento Republic FC through the end of the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season. The move gives North Texas SC another dynamic option in the final third while providing Kimbrough a new developmental environment as he continues one of the most unique early-career journeys in the sport.
Youth Development and Potential of Da’vian Kimbrough
Kimbrough, 16, arrives with national attention already attached to his name. On Oct. 1, 2023, he made his professional debut for Sacramento Republic at just 13 years, 7 months and 13 days old, becoming the youngest player to appear in a professional American soccer league.
That milestone placed Kimbrough in the spotlight before most players his age had even entered the academy conversation at a high level. Now, North Texas SC will look to help him continue building on that foundation.
“We are very much looking forward to getting Da’vian into our environment,” North Texas SC head coach John Gall said. “He’s a talented young player with a lot of potential. He’s coachable, hard working and determined, all the traits that give young players the best chance to succeed.”
The move also brings an FC Dallas connection. Current FC Dallas assistant coach Mark Briggs was Sacramento’s head coach when Kimbrough made his professional debut in 2023. That familiarity adds another layer to the loan, as Kimbrough now joins the FC Dallas development pathway through North Texas SC.
Since signing his professional contract with Sacramento in 2023, Kimbrough has made six first-team appearances. He earned his first professional start earlier this year in Sacramento’s 2-0 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup win over El Farolito on March 18, 2026.
Before breaking into the professional ranks, Kimbrough joined the Sacramento Republic Academy in 2021 at age 11. His rapid rise through the club’s system made him one of the most closely watched youth players in the country and helped create early international interest.
Kimbrough has represented both Mexico and the United States at the youth national team level. Most recently, he played for Mexico’s U-17 national team at the Canteras de América Tournament in Rosario, Argentina, where he scored four goals against Newell’s Old Boys, Grêmio and Barcelona SC of Ecuador.
He also represented the United States U-17 national team at the 2026 Vertex Cup in April, continuing to gain valuable experience in international competition.
That dual-national background makes Kimbrough’s development even more compelling. With eligibility for both the United States and Mexico, every stage of his progression will be watched closely by supporters, scouts and national team observers.
For North Texas SC, the loan provides a chance to add a forward with creativity, confidence and a proven ability to compete above his age group. At 5-foot-9, Kimbrough brings attacking versatility and the type of developmental upside that fits the purpose of MLS NEXT Pro.
North Texas SC has long served as a bridge between academy soccer and the professional level for FC Dallas. Adding Kimbrough gives the club another young player who can benefit from meaningful minutes, daily competition and a professional training environment.
The challenge now is balancing patience with opportunity. Kimbrough is still only 16, and his development will be measured by more than goals or appearances. North Texas will look to sharpen his decision-making, physical adjustment, movement off the ball and consistency against older competition.
Still, the upside is clear.
Kimbrough has already made history as a teenager, earned first-team minutes, started in the U.S. Open Cup and produced on the international youth stage. His loan to North Texas SC gives him a new platform to keep growing while staying connected to a high-level professional pathway.
For North Texas, this is both a roster move and a developmental swing. For Kimbrough, it is the next step in a career that began making headlines unusually early.
The story now moves to Frisco, where one of American soccer’s youngest professionals will try to turn promise into progress with FC Dallas.
