STWF Sports | CARSON, California | Aug. 1, 2026 — FC Dallas earned a hard-fought road point Saturday night, playing the LA Galaxy to a 0-0 draw at Dignity Health Sports Park behind a standout performance from goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois.
The result moved Dallas to 7-5-6 with 27 points on the season, while the Galaxy shifted to 5-7-7 with 22 points. It marked FC Dallas’ second road draw of the campaign and its fourth clean sheet of 2026.
Sirois was at the center of the result.
The Canadian goalkeeper delivered a career-high nine saves while recording his first clean sheet in an FC Dallas uniform. He also won every aerial duel he contested, providing a steady presence behind a Dallas back line that was tested throughout the night.
Head coach Eric Quill praised his group’s defensive discipline and willingness to recover collectively when the Galaxy pushed forward.
“I was proud of us defensively,” Quill said. “I thought we transitioned as a group with honesty. They’re a dangerous team in transition, and I thought we did a good job managing those moments.”
Dallas created opportunities of its own but could not find the final touch in the attacking third. Quill described the game as a battle of narrow margins, with both sides producing dangerous moments without finding a breakthrough.
“We were knocking on the door and had some really good looks, but we just couldn’t find that final play inside the box,” Quill said. “We had a lot of almost moments, and so did they.”
Defender Nolan Norris also played a significant role in keeping the Galaxy off the scoreboard.
The Fort Worth native made his 14th appearance of the season and finished with a team-high 18 defensive actions. Norris recorded 15 clearances, two tackles and one interception, helping Dallas withstand pressure and preserve the clean sheet.
The night also featured an important milestone for midfielder Clay Holstad.
Holstad made his MLS debut in the 79th minute after joining Dallas on loan from Rhode Island FC through the end of the 2026 season. He entered with familiarity in Quill’s system after previously playing under the FC Dallas coach during his youth career with Texans SC in Houston.
Quill credited Holstad for immediately making an impact.
“He came in and immediately made two big defensive plays on set pieces that helped us,” Quill said. “He’s only going to grow from here.”
Holstad called the debut a meaningful moment in his career, while also emphasizing the importance of the team result.
“The goal is always to climb as high as possible, and making your debut is the first step,” Holstad said. “I’m also really proud of the team. It was a hard-fought road draw and a gritty performance from everyone.”
The scoreless draw also pushed Dallas’ all-time regular-season record against the Galaxy to 35-37-14.
While FC Dallas will leave California encouraged by the defensive performance, the focus quickly shifts to tournament play.
Dallas opens Leagues Cup competition Wednesday against Liga MX side Querétaro FC at Texas Health Mansfield Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT.
Quill made clear that the club views the tournament as a meaningful opportunity.
“This is an exciting opportunity for us,” Quill said. “It’s a tournament, so every moment matters and every game is important. We want to advance.”
With four clean sheets now on the season and Sirois coming off his strongest performance in an FC Dallas shirt, Dallas enters Leagues Cup with confidence on the defensive end.
The next challenge will be turning that stability into goals and, ultimately, tournament momentum.
