STWF Sports | SAN JOSE, California | Aug. 8, 2026 — FC Dallas continued its strong start to the 2026 Leagues Cup on Saturday night, defeating C.D. Guadalajara 1-0 at PayPal Park behind a second-half goal from Logan Farrington and another clean sheet from goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois.

The victory moved Dallas to 2-0-0 with six points in Phase One play, while Chivas dropped to 0-1-1 with one point. FC Dallas has now posted back-to-back shutout victories in the tournament and three consecutive clean sheets across all competitions.

Farrington delivered the decisive moment in the 73rd minute.

Santi Moreno helped create the opportunity with a dangerous ball across goal, and Farrington finished the chance for his first career Leagues Cup goal. The strike was his sixth goal of the season for Dallas and rewarded a stronger second-half performance from a team that spent much of the opening 45 minutes under pressure.

FC Dallas: A Team on the Rise

Head coach Eric Quill acknowledged that the first half was difficult, particularly against a Chivas side that controlled possession and played in front of a heavily pro-Guadalajara crowd.

Dallas struggled to transition cleanly after winning the ball, often surrendering possession before it could turn defensive stops into dangerous counterattacks.

That changed after halftime.

Quill credited his team with settling into the match and becoming more decisive going forward. Moreno provided immediate energy after entering the contest, while Petar Musa and Farrington became increasingly involved as Dallas found more space in transition.

The breakthrough eventually arrived through a sequence that Farrington said mirrored what the team had worked on in training.

“If the ball comes to me, I’m going to score,” Farrington said of his mindset before the finish.

While Farrington supplied the goal, Sirois once again anchored the performance at the other end.

The FC Dallas goalkeeper made five saves and recorded his second clean sheet of the tournament. He has now gone three consecutive matches without conceding a goal while totaling 23 saves during that stretch.

His recent run includes a nine-save performance in a scoreless MLS draw against the LA Galaxy, another nine-save outing in the Leagues Cup opener against Querétaro and Saturday’s shutout against Chivas.

The defensive effort was particularly impressive given the atmosphere and the pressure Dallas faced.

Defender Nolan Norris described the match as a test of communication, resilience and collective effort, with the crowd creating what felt like an away environment.

Dallas embraced that challenge.

The victory also improved FC Dallas to 1-0-1 all-time against Guadalajara in official competition. The clubs previously met during the 2007 SuperLiga, playing to a 1-1 draw at Toyota Stadium.

Saturday also featured another milestone for the roster.

Sam Sarver made his first Leagues Cup appearance and start for FC Dallas, becoming the 10th Dallas player to debut in the tournament this season.

For Quill, the result represented more than simply three points.

He spoke afterward about the importance of defeating a historic Mexican club and what that type of performance could mean for the confidence and identity of his team moving forward.

Dallas now turns its attention to an even more demanding challenge.

FC Dallas travels to Mexico to face Toluca FC on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Estadio Nemesio Diez in its third and final Phase One match. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT.

With six points, consecutive Leagues Cup victories and three straight clean sheets, Dallas heads into the matchup with momentum — and growing belief that its tournament run can extend well beyond the opening phase.
