WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 22, 2025) — In their first overtime test of the 2025 season, the Dallas Wings came up just short, falling 91–88 to the Washington Mystics on Sunday afternoon at CareFirst Arena. Mystics rookie Sonia Citron buried the game-winning 3-pointer with 12.9 seconds remaining in overtime to seal the win, capping off a career-best 27-point, 11-rebound double-double performance.
The loss halts the Wings’ momentum after back-to-back wins and drops them to 3–12 on the season, while the Mystics improved to 6–8.

Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale continued their dynamic backcourt run, combining for 47 points. Ogunbowale led the team with 27 points, while Bueckers added 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists in another all-around effort. Mystics Start Fast, Wings Fire Back
Washington raced out to a 27–14 first-quarter lead behind hot shooting from Citron and Sug Sutton. The Wings struggled early, shooting just 2-for-14 from the field, but clawed back in the second quarter behind a 15–3 run fueled by Ogunbowale.
Dallas surged ahead in the second, thanks to clutch baskets from Bueckers and NaLyssa Smith, outscoring Washington 31–13 in the frame to take a 45–40 halftime lead.
Tug of War Through the Second Half
Dallas weathered several surges by Washington in the third, with Bueckers and Li Yueru helping keep the lead intact. But the Mystics fought back in the fourth behind Kiki Iriafen (13 points, 6 assists) and Brittney Sykes, eventually overtaking Dallas with 1:08 left to play.
Down three in the final seconds of regulation, Bueckers hit a clutch 3-pointer to tie the game at 84–84, forcing overtime.
Overtime Heartbreak
Dallas struck first in the extra frame with four quick points from Bueckers, but Shakira Austin and Citron swung momentum back to the Mystics. With the game tied at 88, Citron’s triple from the right wing proved to be the dagger, giving Washington the 91–88 edge.
