STWF Sports | NEW ORLEANS| August 13, 2026 — LSU New Orleans men’s basketball will face a demanding 2026-27 schedule featuring marquee road trips, regional matchups and a full Southland Conference slate as the Privateers prepare for another season under head coach Stacy Hollowell.
Overview of LSU New Orleans Men’s Basketball Schedule
The schedule is highlighted by non-conference trips to LSU, Texas Tech, Arizona and Kansas, along with four home games at Lakefront Arena before conference play takes center stage.
The Privateers will open the season on Nov. 3 in Baton Rouge against LSU in what will serve as a “Battle of LSUs.” It will mark the third meeting between the programs in four seasons at Pete Maravich Assembly Center and will carry added significance following New Orleans’ return to the LSU system in July.
LSU New Orleans will then return home for its Lakefront Arena debut on Nov. 7 against Loyola during Homecoming festivities.
That matchup brings several familiar storylines. Hollowell previously led Loyola to a national championship before taking over the Privateers, while current Loyola head coach Trey Lindsey was a member of Hollowell’s first LSU New Orleans staff three seasons ago.
The Privateers’ remaining non-conference home schedule includes SUNO on Nov. 14, Grambling State on Nov. 25 and Florida Gulf Coast on Nov. 29.
One of the more unusual features of the schedule is an in-season home-and-home series with Grambling.
After hosting the Tigers in November, LSU New Orleans will travel to Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center on Dec. 13. It will be the Privateers’ first same-season home-and-home against a non-conference opponent since splitting two meetings with San Jose State during the 2012-13 campaign.
The road schedule will provide several major early-season tests.
LSU New Orleans travels to Texas Tech on Nov. 18 before heading west to face Arizona on Dec. 1. Following the opening stretch of Southland play, the Privateers will travel to Lawrence to face Kansas in their final non-conference contest.
All three programs finished last season ranked in the Associated Press Top 25, with Arizona at No. 3, Kansas at No. 20 and Texas Tech at No. 21.
The trips also renew some rarely played matchups. New Orleans last visited Arizona in 1993, Kansas in 2005 and Texas Tech last season.
For the second consecutive year, Southland Conference competition begins in December.
The Privateers open league play at home against UTRGV on Dec. 5 and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Dec. 7 before visiting HCU on Dec. 19 and UIW on Dec. 21.
January features road games against Northwestern State, East Texas A&M, Stephen F. Austin and Lamar. LSU New Orleans will welcome Nicholls, Southeastern, East Texas A&M and Northwestern State to Lakefront Arena during the month.
The February home slate includes McNeese, HCU, UIW, Lamar and Stephen F. Austin, while road trips send the Privateers to UTRGV, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Southeastern.
LSU New Orleans closes the regular season on March 1 at McNeese in Lake Charles.
The Southland Conference Tournament will also take place in Lake Charles, beginning March 7 and concluding with the championship game on March 10.
For the fourth straight season, every LSU New Orleans home game will be available on ESPN+. All Southland Conference games, both home and away, will also stream on ESPN+.
The 2026-27 campaign will be the first basketball season under the LSU New Orleans name after the University of New Orleans rejoined the LSU system in July 2026. The athletic department will continue competing as the Privateers and remain a member of the Southland Conference.
