NCAA Recap: LSU New Orleans Dominates Loyola 90-65 in Homecoming Victory Behind Strong Defense and Balanced Scoring

STWF SPORTS | NEW ORLEANS, La. | NOVEMBER 7, 2026 – The LSU New Orleans Privateers delivered an impressive Homecoming performance Saturday afternoon, defeating the Loyola Wolf Pack 90-65 at Lakefront Arena to secure their first victory of the 2026-27 men’s basketball season.

Playing before 2,472 fans, the Privateers (1-1) used aggressive interior defense, efficient scoring and balanced offensive production to overwhelm their nationally ranked NAIA opponent.

Kahlil Singleton led LSU New Orleans with 19 points, while Enzo Boudouma contributed a career-high 18 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Marcus McDonald added 16 points in his first collegiate start.

The victory marked an important milestone as the Privateers celebrated their first home game since the university rejoined the LSU system.

Privateers Establish Defensive Dominance

LSU New Orleans controlled the paint throughout the contest, recording nine blocked shots, its highest total since producing 11 against Houston Baptist in 2019.

Solomon Ominu anchored the defensive effort with four blocks, repeatedly challenging Loyola’s attempts around the basket.

Boudouma and McDonald added two blocks apiece, while Kedrick Osby contributed another.

The Privateers also established a substantial advantage on the glass, outrebounding Loyola 43-30 according to the official box score.

Their dominance inside translated into a commanding 58-22 advantage in points in the paint.

That performance was particularly significant against a Loyola squad that entered averaging 46 rebounds and holding a double-digit rebounding advantage over its opponents.

Singleton Leads Balanced Offensive Attack

Four LSU New Orleans starters reached double figures, highlighting the team’s offensive balance.

Singleton finished with 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting and connected on all six of his free-throw attempts.

His performance extended his consecutive made free-throw streak to 23, dating back to January 30 during his time at Canisius.

Boudouma provided another standout performance, making eight of 12 field-goal attempts while adding three assists, two steals and two blocks.

McDonald contributed 16 points, four assists, two steals and two blocks in his first career start.

Osby rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting.

Late First-Half Play Sparks Momentum

LSU New Orleans established control during the opening half, using its physicality and interior scoring to challenge Loyola’s defense.

The Wolf Pack briefly threatened to shift momentum when Reece Seicshnaydre connected on an off-balance shot near the basket.

However, Singleton answered with one of the game’s defining plays.

With 3.6 seconds remaining before halftime, Singleton knocked down a corner three-pointer while drawing a foul from Seicshnaydre.

He converted the ensuing free throw to complete the four-point play, sending the Privateers into halftime leading 42-31.

Strong Second Half Secures Homecoming Win

The Privateers continued their offensive efficiency after halftime, shooting 57.1 percent from the field.

LSU New Orleans outscored Loyola 48-34 over the final 20 minutes, preventing the Wolf Pack from establishing a sustained comeback.

Loyola never reduced the deficit below seven points during the second half.

The Privateers eventually expanded their lead to 27 points with 5:43 remaining and maintained a comfortable advantage through the closing minutes.

LSU New Orleans finished shooting 51.4 percent overall, while holding Loyola to 36.8 percent.

The Privateers also generated 20 points off turnovers.

Loyola Struggles Against Physical Frontcourt

Seicshnaydre led the Wolf Pack with 14 points, connecting on four three-pointers.

Kosta Bjelicic and Zachary Lee contributed 11 points apiece, while Bjelicic and Georgios Vassilakis each collected six rebounds.

Despite those contributions, Loyola struggled to match LSU New Orleans’ interior production and defensive pressure.

Privateers Turn Attention to SUNO

LSU New Orleans returns to Lakefront Arena Saturday, November 14, to host Southern University at New Orleans.

Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CT, with coverage available on ESPN+ and 106.1 Heaven FM.

STWF Sports Final Takeaway: Saturday’s victory provided an encouraging response following the Privateers’ season-opening loss to LSU. With four starters scoring in double figures and a dominant defensive performance, LSU New Orleans demonstrated the physicality and offensive balance needed to build momentum.

The challenge now is maintaining that consistency as the Privateers continue their 2026-27 campaign.
