Just one year after making their first-ever playoff appearance, the NOLA Gold announced they will not participate in the 2026 Major League Rugby season.
In a statement released Wednesday, July 30, on the team’s official website, the organization confirmed it has informed the league of its decision to withdraw from next season. While the team did not provide a specific reason, it noted that discussions are underway regarding “future opportunities and potential pathways forward.”
The announcement follows the conclusion of the 2025 season, in which the Gold finished with a 4-12 record—fifth in the Eastern Conference and missing the playoffs.
Despite on-field struggles, the team pointed to a 30% increase in ticketing revenue compared to the previous year, describing it as a “strong indicator of the growing support from our community” in a message shared on social media.
