Opposing Coach Denies Running Clock in 100-0 Blowout

Alabama High School Football Team Makes History With 100-0 Win

Williamson High School from Mobile made history Friday night by becoming the first team in Alabama to score 100 points in a football game in 75 years. The Lions rolled past Murphy with a 100–0 shutout.

By halftime, Williamson already held a 73–0 lead. Head coach Antonio Coleman asked officials to run the clock to keep the game moving, but the request was delayed until the fourth quarter after confusion on the sidelines.

Quarterback Alvin Dinkins led the charge with eight touchdowns in the first half alone. Once the starters were pulled, Williamson’s backups continued to find the end zone, adding 27 more points in the second half to reach the century mark.

Coach Coleman said afterward that his main concern was player safety and ending the game quickly: “I was just trying to get out of the game. I didn’t want anyone to get hurt.”

With the win, Williamson improved to 6–0 on the season, having outscored opponents 311–14. Murphy, meanwhile, dropped to 0–6 under first-year coach Sherman Williams, and has been outscored 308–12 this year.

This was only the 19th time in Alabama history that a high school team scored 100 points in a game, and the first since 1970. The largest totals on record remain Langdale’s 125 points in 1925 and Hamilton’s 125 in 1915.
