STWF Sports | Colorado |Nov. 24, 2025 — USA Basketball has officially announced the 18-player pool for its upcoming Women’s National Team training camp, set for December 12–14 at Duke University. Among the headline selections is Dallas Wings star guard Paige Bueckers, who continues her meteoric ascent after a breakout WNBA Rookie of the Year campaign.
The December camp marks the latest step in USA Basketball’s evaluation process ahead of the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Berlin. With several Olympic gold medalists returning and a wave of new-generation talent earning their first senior-team looks, this camp promises to be one of the most competitive in recent years.
Bueckers Joins Elite Company
Bueckers is one of 10 players making their senior national team camp debuts. After averaging 18.9 points, 5.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game in her rookie season with the Wings, the 6-0 guard is now getting her first extended look among the USA’s veteran core.
Joining her in the debut group are Lauren Betts, Cameron Brink, Veronica Burton, Sonia Citron, Caitlin Clark, Kiki Iriafen, Rickea Jackson, Angel Reese and JuJu Watkins — a collection of rising stars viewed collectively as the next era of American women’s basketball.
Bueckers has long been on USA Basketball’s radar. She previously won gold medals at multiple junior-level tournaments, and also represented the U.S. in 3×3 competition. Her addition to this senior camp signals that she’s firmly in contention for a World Cup roster spot.
Olympic Royalty Leads the Camp
The training camp roster features several 2024 Olympic champions, including Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray, Brittney Griner, Kelsey Plum, and Jackie Young.
Dearica Hamby, who earned bronze in 3×3 at the Paris Olympics, also returns to the national-team environment.
Griner and Plum are among the most decorated athletes in the pool, each owning multiple FIBA World Cup golds. Brionna Jones joins them as another senior-level world champion.
The 2025–28 USA Women’s National Team will once again be coached by Kara Lawson (Duke University). Her staff includes:
-
Natalie Nakase (Golden State Valkyries) – 2025 WNBA Coach of the Year
-
Nate Tibbetts (Phoenix Mercury) – 2025 WNBA Finals head coach
-
Stephanie White (Indiana Fever) – 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year
It is one of the most accomplished coaching staffs ever assembled for a USA training environment.
A Deep Talent Pool with World Cup Stakes
USA Basketball’s pool features a blend of Olympic-tested stars, mid-career standouts, and first-time senior-camp participants. Notably, several players bring high-level 3×3 experience, including Plum and Young — both Olympic gold medalists — and Brink, a 2023 3×3 World Cup champion.
Bueckers, Boston, and Jackson also have 3×3 junior experience, giving them a familiarity with USA Basketball’s system of play and pace.
The upcoming camp serves as a key scouting opportunity for USA Women’s National Team managing director Sue Bird, who will ultimately help select the team aiming for a fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s World Cup gold medal next September.
Bueckers Poised for a Breakthrough Moment
For Dallas Wings fans, Bueckers’ inclusion represents both recognition and opportunity. After guiding the Wings to one of the strongest rookie-led campaigns in franchise history and becoming the face of their new direction, her rise to the national stage is unfolding faster than anticipated.
With several roster decisions still months away, what happens in Durham could shape the future of the national team — and possibly produce a new star in red, white, and blue.
And for Paige Bueckers, this camp could be the next step toward joining the lineage of iconic USA guards before her.
