PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | October 25, 2025 – The Prairie View A&M Panthers gave their homecoming crowd plenty to cheer about on Saturday afternoon, putting together a complete team performance in a 38–0 rout over Lincoln University (California) at Panther Stadium at Blackshear Field. Behind a precise outing from quarterback Cameron Peters, a balanced rushing attack, and a suffocating defense that held the visiting Oaklanders to just 63 total yards, the Panthers rolled to their fifth straight win and improved to 6–2 on the season.
Fast Start Sets the Tone
Prairie View wasted no time asserting its dominance. The Panthers struck early and often, exploding for 24 points in the first quarter to put the game out of reach before Lincoln could gain its footing. Running back Chase Bingmon capped two early drives with touchdown runs of 1 and 17 yards, giving the Panthers a 14–0 lead before many fans had settled into their seats.
After a 30-yard field goal stretched the lead to 17–0, Prairie View struck again before the end of the first frame, capitalizing on a Lincoln turnover to punch in another touchdown and make it 24–0. It was the Panthers’ most dominant first quarter of the season — a statement opening for a team hitting its stride at the perfect time.
“We wanted to make sure we played our brand of football early,” head coach Bubba McDowell said postgame. “This was homecoming — we owed it to our fans and alumni to come out fast, execute, and show the kind of team we’re becoming.”
Cameron Peters Commands the Offense
Quarterback Cameron Peters was in complete control of the offense from start to finish. The junior signal-caller completed 11 of 18 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns, while also showcasing his mobility with a 19-yard rushing score in the third quarter that pushed the lead to 31–0.
Peters displayed poise and precision in the pocket, spreading the ball across multiple targets and keeping Lincoln’s defense guessing. His top connection came with Jyzaiah Rockwell, who turned in a breakout performance with three receptions for 104 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown bomb in the fourth quarter that put an exclamation mark on the win.
Wideout Andre Dennis also provided a steady presence, hauling in four catches for 72 yards, while the ground game continued to flourish behind the offensive line’s dominance.
Running backs Lamagea McDowell and Chase Bingmon powered the Panthers’ rushing attack, combining for 89 yards and two touchdowns. McDowell averaged 6.7 yards per carry, while Bingmon’s two early scores set the tone for a balanced offensive effort that totaled 423 yards.
Defense Delivers a Masterclass
While the offense dazzled, the Panthers’ defense stole the show with one of their most complete performances of the season. Prairie View completely neutralized Lincoln’s offense, holding the visitors to 21 rushing yards and 42 passing yards while forcing two turnovers and registering four sacks.
Linebacker Sterling Roberts led the charge with a game-high defensive stat line — three tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and one recovery — setting the tone with relentless pressure off the edge. Defensive end Matthew Moore added another sack, while Trinity Ward recovered a fumble to complete a near-perfect day for the defense.
Prairie View’s unit didn’t allow a single third-down conversion, as Lincoln finished 0-for-6 on third downs and failed to sustain any offensive rhythm. The Panthers also won the turnover battle 2–0, converting both takeaways into touchdowns that extended their lead.
“We wanted to shut them out,” Roberts said. “Coach challenged us all week to dominate every snap, and that’s exactly what we did. We played physical, flew to the ball, and finished every play.”
Weather Delay, Same Result
Midway through the third quarter, play was suspended for one hour and 22 minutes due to lightning in the area. But the delay did little to disrupt Prairie View’s rhythm. When play resumed, the Panthers picked up right where they left off, with Peters leading another scoring drive capped by his 19-yard touchdown run.
The defense maintained its intensity throughout the delay, continuing to suffocate Lincoln’s offense until the final whistle.
