Strong Start: James Bould Powers Nicholls Golf at Sandestin Collegiate Classic

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. — James Bould opened the 2026 season with a strong showing for the Nicholls State University men’s golf team, finishing tied for 18th at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic at the Raven Golf Club.

Bould posted an even-par 210 over three rounds, highlighted by a 3-under 67 in Monday’s opening round. He followed with rounds of 71 and 72 to secure his second career Top 20 finish.

The Colonel standout recorded nine birdies throughout the tournament, including five during his opening round, as Nicholls got off to a strong start as a team.

Nicholls fired a 1-under 279 in the first round, putting the Colonels in a tie for sixth place after the opening day. The Colonels followed with rounds of 291 and 292 to finish the tournament at 862 and place 12th in the 14-team field.

Jack Moro and Kyle Traub were the next highest finishers for Nicholls, both finishing with a three-round total of 217 to tie for 43rd.

Moro joined Bould with an under-par round on Monday, carding a 1-under 69 before finishing with rounds of 75 and 73. Traub opened with a 73 before posting his best round of the tournament with a 71 on Tuesday and closing with another 73.

Freshman Ongsa Booncharn finished with a 220 in his collegiate debut. He opened with a 71 before rounds of 74 and 75 to tie for 56th.

Competing as an individual, Elliot Aucoin finished at 221 after rounds of 72, 77 and 72, placing in a tie for 58th. Ethan Marx rounded out the Nicholls lineup with a 224 after shooting 72, 78 and 74.

West Florida’s Hector Arriaga captured individual medalist honors after finishing at 10-under 200. West Florida and Mercer shared the team championship after both programs finished at 2-under 838.
