STWF Sports| GRAMBLING, La.| October 17, 2026 — Grambling State returns to the road Saturday for another important Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup, traveling to Huntsville to face Alabama A&M at Louis Crews Stadium.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT, with the game available on SWAC TV.
Grambling State enters the contest at 5-2 overall and 3-1 in SWAC play after earning a 45-38 victory over Jackson State. Alabama A&M also carries a 5-2 record into the matchup and sits at 2-1 in conference play following a dominant 55-17 win over Bethune-Cookman.
The matchup will be the 32nd all-time meeting between the programs. Grambling State owns a 22-9 series advantage and defeated Alabama A&M 13-10 last season in Grambling.
Grambling Offense Finding Its Rhythm
The G-Men have found another gear offensively over the past two games.
After scoring just 14 points against Prairie View A&M, Grambling responded with 63 points against Alcorn State before putting up 45 against Jackson State.
The Tigers now rank third in the SWAC and 12th nationally in scoring offense at 37.7 points per game.
Quarterback Jacobe Robinson has become a major part of that surge.
Against Jackson State, Robinson completed 17 of 21 passes for 212 yards and four touchdowns while adding another score on the ground. Through six games, he has completed 47 of 72 passes for 606 yards and eight touchdowns.
His mobility has added another dimension to the offense, especially when defenses attempt to take away Grambling’s downfield passing game.
Wide receiver Tyson George remains one of the Tigers’ most dangerous weapons after catching eight passes for 93 yards and a touchdown against Jackson State.
Ground Game Gives GSU Balance
Grambling State is averaging 184.3 rushing yards per game and has already surpassed last season’s rushing touchdown total.
The Tigers scored 15 rushing touchdowns in 2025 but have already reached 16 this season.
D’Shaun Ford leads the ground attack with 204 yards and five touchdowns on 49 carries. Jamarion Parker has added 197 yards, while Tony Phillips Jr. and Byron Eaton have also received significant work.
That balance could be critical against an Alabama A&M defense that has been among the SWAC’s best.
Bulldogs Bring Elite Defense
Alabama A&M enters Saturday tied atop the SWAC Eastern Division and owns the conference’s top-ranked total defense.
The Bulldogs are allowing just 285.0 yards per game and rank second in the league in scoring defense at 18.4 points per contest. They are also second in rushing defense and passing defense.
DJ Baerber leads the unit with 72 tackles, including 28 solo stops.
Offensively, Alabama A&M is coming off one of its best performances of the season.
The Bulldogs totaled 504 yards against Bethune-Cookman, including 335 rushing yards, while scoring 38 unanswered points in the second half.
Running back Byron Perrilliat rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns, while Jarel Williams caught four passes for 133 yards and two scores.
Turnovers Could Decide It
Grambling’s defense produced two interceptions against Jackson State, including a fourth-quarter takeaway from Marcellius Johnson. Louis Foster also recorded an interception.
Creating similar opportunities will be important against Alabama A&M quarterback Cornelious Brown IV, who has thrown four interceptions through seven games.
Grambling has also recorded 13 sacks this season, led by Jon Horton’s four.
The Tigers are searching for their first victory in Huntsville since 2018, when they defeated Alabama A&M 29-16.
With both teams producing more than 37 points per game and both firmly involved in the SWAC race, Saturday’s matchup has the potential to become another important measuring stick for Grambling State.
