Corey Adams, a former standout football player at Edna Karr High School, was killed in a mass shooting in Tennessee, according to reports.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the 18-year-old was fatally shot late Saturday night (July 19) in Cordova, a suburb east of Memphis. The shooting occurred around 10:14 p.m. outside a home on Fern Glade Cove.
Deputies responding to the scene stopped a vehicle and discovered a male gunshot victim inside. They attempted life-saving measures until emergency personnel arrived, but the victim—later identified as Adams—was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four other adult men also suffered gunshot wounds and later arrived at area hospitals in private vehicles. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s office.
