Texas Rangers Game Recap: Texas Rangers Crush Angels 13-1 Behind Eovaldi Gem and Offensive Surge

ANAHEIM, Calif. (July 8, 2025) — The Texas Rangers unleashed an offensive onslaught on Tuesday night, backing a dominant outing from Nathan Eovaldi to rout the Los Angeles Angels 13-1 at Angel Stadium. With the win, Texas improved to 45-47 on the season and evened the series, as Eovaldi delivered six innings of masterful pitching and the Rangers lineup erupted for 11 hits and 13 runs, capitalizing on nine walks issued by Angels pitchers.

Eovaldi’s Command Leads the Way

Eovaldi (6-3) turned in another stellar performance, tossing six innings of five-hit baseball without allowing an earned run. He struck out six, walked none, and lowered his season ERA to a league-best 1.62 among pitchers with at least 80 innings pitched. His pinpoint control and calm under pressure set the tone for a Rangers team desperate to reverse recent road struggles.

The only blemish on Eovaldi’s night came in the third inning, when an error led to an unearned run and a brief 1-0 lead for the Angels. But the veteran right-hander stayed composed and kept the Angels off the board the rest of the way.

Fourth-Inning Avalanche

After being held hitless through the first three innings by Angels starter José Soriano (6-6), the Rangers pounced in the fourth. Soriano unraveled quickly, walking three of the first four batters in the frame. Then came an offensive explosion from Texas.

Wyatt Langford roped a two-run double to left, followed immediately by a ground-rule two-run double from Evan Carter. Jake Burger capped the six-pitch burst with a run-scoring single to give the Rangers a 5-1 advantage. What had been a quiet night offensively flipped in an instant as Texas turned patience into production.

More Walks, More Runs

The Rangers kept their foot on the gas in the fifth, again using walks to fuel another big inning. Left-hander Sam Aldegheri issued three free passes, and Texas made him pay. Burger delivered the dagger with a three-run blast to left, and Langford added a solo homer to put the game out of reach at 9-1. Langford and Burger each finished with four RBIs.

Corey Seager got in on the act with a solo shot in the sixth — his 13th of the season — continuing his red-hot stretch against the Angels. Seager is now batting .447 over his last 13 games against Los Angeles, with five home runs, nine RBIs, and no strikeouts.

Late-Game Oddities

With the game well out of hand, both teams turned to position players to eat innings. Angels infielder Kevin Newman was pressed into duty and threw the final three frames for Los Angeles, surrendering four runs but helping preserve the bullpen. In a twist of symmetry, Rangers utilityman Ezequiel Duran pitched a scoreless ninth, closing out the laugher with a smile.

Big Picture

The win is a much-needed confidence boost for the Rangers, who had fallen to 18-28 on the road after Monday’s walk-off loss. Their offense, quiet at times this season, showed flashes of the form that powered them to the playoffs a year ago. With a healthier rotation and Langford and Burger heating up, Texas could be poised for a second-half surge.

Meanwhile, the Angels’ inconsistency continues. They’ve now dropped four of their last six games, and their inability to limit walks proved fatal on Tuesday. Soriano, who started strong, finished with six earned runs over four innings.

What’s Next

The series wraps up Wednesday night as the Rangers send right-hander Kumar Rocker (3-4, 5.80 ERA) to the mound in hopes of securing a series win. The Angels counter with veteran Kyle Hendricks (5-6, 4.68 ERA), looking to steady the ship for Los Angeles.

With both clubs hovering just below .500, the rubber match could prove pivotal in the playoff push heading into the All-Star break.
