Tom Brady Gives Drew Brees Candid Advice Ahead of FOX Sports Debut as NFL Legends Share Spotlight

STWF Sports|Nov. 16, 2025 – Two of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history shared the broadcast spotlight on Sunday as Drew Brees made his FOX Sports debut—welcomed with a mix of humor, mentorship, and a subtle warning from none other than Tom Brady.

Brees, replacing Mark Sanchez in the booth after the former Jets quarterback’s dismissal in early October, joined play-by-play man Adam Amin for the Green Bay Packers’ win over the new-look New York Giants. But before taking the mic for the first time as FOX’s newest color analyst, the 20-year NFL veteran received some on-air words of wisdom from Brady—who knows all too well the steep learning curve of transitioning from the field to the broadcast booth.

Brady’s Playful but Pointed Advice

Asked for guidance for the newest FOX hire, Brady couldn’t resist poking fun at his own early stumbles.

“I’m glad I’m not a rookie anymore,” Brady said with a grin.
“But I’d warn him of all the mistakes I made in my first year—we’d be here for an hour. So I’m not gonna tell you any of those things.”

With the panel laughing, Brady added one final—and more serious—piece of advice:

“He knows what to do. Have fun. Just enjoy yourself—and don’t read all of those social media comments after.”

Brees didn’t hesitate to match Brady’s energy.

“We’re just gonna turn it loose, baby,” the 46-year-old said, drawing more laughter from the FOX studio crew.
“We gonna turn it loose.”

Brees Returns to Broadcasting With Big Expectations

After one season with NBC in 2021–22, Brees spent several years away from the broadcast stage. Now back with FOX, the Super Bowl XLIV champion has already reiterated the high bar he sets for himself.

Speaking to USA TODAY Sports ahead of his debut, Brees doubled down on comments he originally made three years ago—claiming he believed he could be one of the best broadcasters in the sport.

“Yeah, absolutely. I wouldn’t be doing it if I didn’t,” Brees said.
“It’s not just to scratch an itch. I love the game. I’m passionate about the game. I feel like I’ve got so much to offer.”

FOX is betting on that confidence. Brees now joins a stable led by Brady—who signed a landmark 10-year, $375 million contract in 2024 and has worked his way into comfort in the booth despite juggling the responsibilities of being a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

For Brees, whose NFL playing career earned him over $270 million, this new chapter is driven by passion rather than financial necessity.

Brady’s GOAT Status Faces Familiar Pushback

Even with the humorous moment between Brady and Brees, the FOX studio desk wasn’t short of drama this weekend. Legendary Steelers quarterback and longtime FOX analyst Terry Bradshaw once again cast doubt on Brady’s status as the NFL’s unquestioned GOAT.

While Bradshaw has long acknowledged Brady’s accolades—his seven Super Bowl championships, his longevity, his postseason dominance—he has never been fully convinced that championships alone define greatness. And with Brady now seated just a few yards away from him on Sunday mornings, Bradshaw’s skepticism remains a talking point.

A New Era for FOX’s NFL Coverage

With Brees officially joining the fold, FOX now boasts a booth featuring two of the most decorated quarterbacks in league history—combining for:

  • 8 Super Bowl titles

  • 22 Pro Bowls

  • more than 160,000 passing yards

  • countless offensive records

As Brees gets his footing and Brady continues evolving in his second year, FOX’s broadcast future looks star-studded and drama-filled—both on the air and behind the scenes.

One thing is certain: if Sunday was any indication, the dynamic between two of football’s most iconic competitors will be must-watch television for the rest of the season.
