JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially secured the most electrifying player in the 2025 NFL Draft. On Sunday evening, the team announced that Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter signed his four-year rookie contract worth $46.65 million fully guaranteed, including a record-setting $30.57 million signing bonus paid in full up front.
Hunter, selected No. 2 overall by Jacksonville, becomes the first non-quarterback in NFL history not drafted No. 1 overall to receive his entire signing bonus up front — a groundbreaking deal negotiated by agents Adie von Gontard and Ray Haija of Young Money APAA Sports.
The deal wraps up negotiations for the top of the 2025 class, with Hunter the final top-10 pick to sign. Only two first-rounders remain unsigned: Cincinnati’s Shemar Stewart (17th) and Denver’s Jahdae Barron (20th).
Jacksonville made an aggressive move to acquire the two-way phenom, trading four draft picks — Nos. 5, 36, 126, and a 2026 first-rounder — to the Cleveland Browns to jump to No. 2 and land Hunter.
Hunter, who dazzled fans at Colorado by playing both receiver and cornerback, has already begun a similar path in Jacksonville. While the bulk of his offseason work has come on the offensive side of the ball during OTAs and minicamp, the Jaguars made a point to test his defensive readiness — giving him full reps in the secondary on select days, including the final practice of minicamp.
First-year head coach Liam Coen confirmed that the plan is to continue developing Hunter as a two-way player during training camp.
“We want to be smart with how we deploy him, but Travis is a rare breed,” Coen said. “His football IQ, stamina, and explosiveness allow him to impact the game in more ways than most can dream of.”
Hunter is expected to contribute immediately as a wide receiver and rotational corner, with the potential to evolve into a game-breaking weapon on both sides of the ball — a modern-day Charles Woodson meets Deion Sanders hybrid.
With a transformative talent now under contract and a coaching staff ready to unleash him, the Travis Hunter era in Jacksonville has officially begun.
