Travis Kelce Calls for ‘Urgency’ as Chiefs Stumble Into Week 12 vs the Colts Needing Miracle Finish to Keep Playoff Dreams Alive

STWF Sports|Nov. 20, 2025 The Kansas City Chiefs have reached a crossroads few expected to see in the Patrick Mahomes era. At 5–5 and sitting third in the AFC West, Kansas City enters Week 12 needing a win over the 8–2 Indianapolis Colts to keep their postseason hopes from slipping into mathematical chaos. For a franchise that has reached five of the last six Super Bowls — winning three — this is unfamiliar and uncomfortable territory.

And it’s not getting any easier. Indianapolis arrives boasting the NFL’s passing yards leader in Daniel Jones and MVP candidate Jonathan Taylor, who continues to bulldoze his way through opposing defenses. The Colts rank among the league’s most balanced and explosive offenses, stacking up almost 400 yards per game.

Kansas City? They’re dealing with the harsh reality of a season defined by missed opportunities, one-score losses, and a conference that no longer fears them.

Reid Rejects Notion of “Playoff Fatigue” in Kansas City

During his midweek media availability, head coach Andy Reid faced questions about the Chiefs’ sudden regression. One reporter wondered whether years of deep postseason runs — essentially “five extra weeks” of football every season — had finally taken a toll.

Reid wasn’t buying it.

“I’m really tired of these press conferences, yeah,” he joked.
“There’s enough changeover in today’s world that keeps it fresh. I think we’re okay there.”

Jokes aside, the numbers tell the story of a team struggling in unfamiliar ways. After going 12–0 in one-score games last year, the Chiefs have plunged to 0–5 in those situations this season. In the Mahomes era, Kansas City has never lost more than six games. A loss on Sunday would put them on the brink of matching that total before December.

Reid emphasized a return to fundamentals.

“What can you do? You get yourself ready to play Indianapolis,” he said.
“You’ve got to take care of the small things — that’s on coaches and players. Small things add up.”

Mahomes Under Scrutiny as Chiefs Seek Urgent Answers

Reid appeared to subtly challenge Mahomes’ decision-making following the Week 11 defeat in Denver. And while Kansas City’s superstar quarterback continues to put up numbers, the timing of turnovers and stalled drives has become a recurring theme.

With Kansas City averaging 25.4 points per game, up from last season’s 22.6, the offense is statistically stronger. But the situational efficiency is not. The Chiefs are failing in the moments they once dominated.

Compounding matters, the Chiefs defense — seventh in yards allowed per game (296.8) — is carrying more than its share of the burden.

Kelce: “The Answers Are Right In Front of Us”

Despite the swirl of frustration outside the building, inside the locker room, leaders like Travis Kelce insist belief remains strong. On the latest episode of New Heights, Kelce delivered a rallying cry that underlined both accountability and urgency.

“The answers are right in front of us,” Kelce said.
“It’s not the coaches. It’s not the guys. We’ve got what we need. We just need to turn it up — the accountability, the details.”

Kelce emphasized that Kansas City’s issues stem not from personnel but execution.

“We need a sense of urgency to get that done,” he continued.
“And I’ve got all the faith in the guys in this building.”

Kelce also pointed to the quality of the opponent waiting for them.

“We’ve got a hell of a team coming in — firing on all cylinders, getting after everybody in the run and pass game.”

A Season-Defining Sunday in Kansas City

Statistically, the Chiefs are outperforming their 2024 squad in nearly every major category. But that team reached the Super Bowl. This one is fighting to stay afloat.

And now comes the Colts, averaging 396.9 yards per game, a team engineered to push Kansas City’s weaknesses to the breaking point.

If the Chiefs lose, their season teeters toward collapse. If they win, hope — and maybe a late-season resurgence — remains alive.

Sunday isn’t just another game.

It’s a referendum on the 2025 Kansas City Chiefs — and a moment that may define whether the Mahomes era hits its first true wall or begins another improbable surge.
