Tyrese Haliburton Goes From Game 7 Heartbreak to NBA Broadcast Spotlight

STWF Sports | Dec. 9, 2025 – Pacers fans won’t see Tyrese Haliburton on the floor this season, but they won’t have to miss his voice, his insight, or the infectious charisma that has turned the young guard into one of the league’s most compelling personalities. The two-time All-Star has officially joined NBA on Prime, becoming a player-contributor for Amazon’s growing basketball coverage during the 2025–26 season.

Haliburton will make his debut Tuesday night on the NBA Nightcap postgame show following the opening quarterfinal games of the NBA Cup. It’s a unique next step for a player who has always been more than just a scorer and facilitator. While his Achilles injury has him sidelined from the court, the broadcast booth may be the perfect arena to keep his presence alive across the league.

“I’m excited to join NBA on Prime and share my basketball knowledge in a different way,” Haliburton said. “This is a great opportunity to give fans an inside look at what it takes to compete at the highest level. The NBA on Prime team is doing something special, and I’m looking forward to helping bring fans closer to the game.”

Haliburton suffered a torn Achilles in Game 7 of the 2025 Finals, ending one of the most dramatic playoff runs of recent memory. The Pacers very nearly knocked off the Oklahoma City Thunder, and many believe that had Haliburton remained healthy, Indiana might have been the ones lifting the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

His production last season speaks for itself: 18.6 points, 9.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals per game, on 47.3% shooting from the field and 38.8% from deep. He was playoff dynamite, the engine of a Pacers offense that built its surge on pace, precision, and composure.

That is what makes his upcoming role with Amazon fascinating—not just a star speaking into a microphone, but one providing perspective from the unique vantage point of his own ongoing recovery. In addition to his on-air segments, Haliburton will produce short video pieces documenting his comeback, giving fans an unfiltered view of his rehab process.

“Tyrese represents this generation of NBA stars,” said Amina Hussein, Prime Sports Head of On-Air Talent. “His willingness to share his journey back to the court demonstrates the authenticity and transparency we’re bringing to our NBA coverage.”

Amazon’s lineup is already rich with basketball royalty. Haliburton will share space with Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Blake Griffin, and Udonis Haslem, along with Taylor Rooks. The star power is undeniable, but Haliburton’s perspective—as an active player—offers something fresh and rarely heard in live broadcast analysis.

The 24-year-old will miss the entire 2025–26 season while focusing on returning at full strength next year. Achilles injuries are among the most treacherous in sports, but Haliburton has always been defined by his work ethic and competitive edge. In many ways, this broadcast partnership keeps his competitive spirit alive, even if it now arrives through a headset rather than on the hardwood.

And for fans, that’s a gift. They will still hear one of the smartest young minds in basketball dissect games. They’ll still experience his personality, his humor, his candor. Haliburton was must-watch television during his extraordinary postseason run. Now, he might be must-watch broadcasting.

It may not be the return Pacers fans hoped for—but it’s still a return. And in a season defined by what the Pacers lost, that matters.
