United Football League Announces Bold New Vision for 2026 Season
ARLINGTON, TEXAS – October 7, 2025 — The United Football League (UFL) has unveiled its “Vision 2026” plan, outlining a new era of growth and transformation for the league’s third season. The changes include three new franchises, team rebrands, venue moves, and a unified league structure aimed at elevating the fan experience and expanding the league’s national reach.
New Franchises
The UFL will introduce three new teams for the 2026 season:
-
Columbus Aviators – Based in Columbus, Ohio, playing at Historic Crew Stadium.
-
Louisville Kings – Based in Louisville, Kentucky, with home games at Lynn Family Stadium.
-
Orlando Storm – Based in Orlando, Florida, playing at Inter&Co Stadium.
These teams will replace the Memphis Showboats, Michigan Panthers, and San Antonio Brahmas.
Rebrands and Venue Changes
Two existing teams are undergoing significant transformations:
-
The Arlington Renegades will become the Dallas Renegades and relocate to Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
-
The Houston Roughnecks will be rebranded as the Houston Gamblers, moving to Shell Energy Stadium.
Both moves are designed to place teams in more accessible markets and provide an enhanced game-day atmosphere.
League Format Updates
Starting in 2026, the UFL will eliminate its conference system and operate as one unified league featuring eight teams. The top four teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the playoffs.
This streamlined structure aims to create a more competitive balance and increase national exposure for all clubs.
Looking Ahead
Head coaches for the new franchises, as well as updated team uniforms, will be announced in the coming months. The 2026 UFL season is set to kick off on Friday, March 27, 2026.
League officials noted that teams will play in smaller, soccer-specific venues to create a more intimate and energetic fan experience, reinforcing the UFL’s commitment to accessibility, excitement, and community engagement.
