STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | April 7, 2026 — The Dallas Renegades continued their early-season surge with another explosive offensive performance, defeating the St. Louis Battlehawks in a game highlighted by record-setting production from quarterback Austin Reed and wide receiver Tyler Vaughns.
For the second consecutive week, Dallas showcased its offensive firepower, with Reed and Vaughns establishing themselves as one of the league’s most dynamic duos.
Fast Start Sets the Tone
Dallas wasted no time asserting control. Reed orchestrated an efficient six-play, 68-yard opening drive, connecting repeatedly with Vaughns before capping it with a touchdown strike. Vaughns accounted for three receptions and 36 yards on the drive, setting the tone for what would become a historic night.
The teams traded field goals late in the first quarter, but the Renegades maintained a 9-3 lead and never relinquished momentum.
Vaughns Delivers Record Night
Vaughns delivered a performance for the record books, finishing with 11 receptions for 146 yards and three touchdowns—setting a new UFL single-game regular-season record for receptions.
His chemistry with Reed was evident throughout the night. Vaughns consistently found space in the secondary, made contested catches and delivered in critical moments. By halftime, he had already surpassed 100 receiving yards, signaling the magnitude of his impact.
The third touchdown—a 30-yard deep ball late in the fourth quarter—served as the exclamation point, with Vaughns outmuscling defenders to secure the score.
Reed in Command
Reed continued his breakout start to the season, finishing 22-of-36 for 240 yards and four touchdowns. His performance tied a UFL regular-season record for most passing touchdowns in a single game.
Aside from one interception in the third quarter, Reed displayed composure and precision against a St. Louis defense that entered the game ranked among the league’s best.
His ability to extend drives and generate explosive plays kept the Renegades in control, particularly during a methodical 15-play, 76-yard drive in the fourth quarter that ended in a touchdown pass to Vaughns.
Defense Holds the Line
While the offense commanded attention, Dallas’ defense played a crucial role in securing the victory.
The Renegades held St. Louis to just three points in the first half, limiting quarterback Brandon Silvers and disrupting the Battlehawks’ offensive rhythm.
Linebacker Andrew Dowell led the team with eight tackles, while the secondary contributed two interceptions—one each from Cole Qwynnterrio and Shawn Wade. The defensive unit also recorded eight pass breakups, consistently contesting throws and forcing difficult decisions.
Even after Reed’s third-quarter interception gave St. Louis favorable field position, the defense responded by limiting the damage to a field goal.
Offensive Line Responds
One of the most notable improvements came from Dallas’ offensive line. After allowing seven sacks in Week One, the unit delivered a clean performance, not surrendering a single sack against St. Louis.
That protection allowed Reed to operate comfortably in the pocket and execute the offense at a high level, a key factor in the team’s success.
Battlehawks’ Late Push Falls Short
St. Louis attempted to rally in the fourth quarter, as Silvers led a 12-play, 65-yard drive that resulted in a touchdown pass to Tyler Neville. The Battlehawks added the league’s first three-point conversion of the season, with Silvers finding Hakeem Butler to cut the deficit to a one-possession game.
However, the comeback effort stalled after a defensive stop by Dallas forced a turnover on downs, allowing the Renegades to regain control and seal the victory.
Momentum Building
Through two weeks, the Renegades have established themselves as one of the UFL’s most dangerous teams. Their offensive production, combined with improved protection and opportunistic defense, has created a balanced and effective approach.
Dallas will look to maintain its unbeaten home record when it hosts Columbus in its next matchup.
For now, the story belongs to Reed and Vaughns—a quarterback-receiver pairing that is quickly becoming must-watch football in the UFL.
