STWF Sports | ARLINGTON, Texas | August 12, 2026 — Dallas Renegades quarterback Austin Reed is getting another opportunity in the NFL after signing with the Baltimore Ravens, the team announced Wednesday.
Reed becomes the latest United Football League standout to earn an NFL opportunity following the 2026 season. His signing also means players from this year’s UFL campaign have now been added by 22 different NFL teams, another sign of the league’s growing role as a developmental pathway to the next level.
For Reed, the move comes after a record-setting season with Dallas.
The quarterback made an immediate impact in his UFL debut, opening the season with a league single-game record 376 passing yards while throwing three touchdowns. That performance quickly established Reed as one of the most productive passers in the league and set the tone for a strong 10-game campaign.
By the end of the season, Reed had added another UFL record to his résumé.
He finished the year with 21 touchdown passes, the most ever recorded in a UFL season. Reed also ranked second in the league with 1,923 passing yards, completing 174 of 309 attempts.
His ability to push the football downfield while consistently producing touchdowns helped make him one of the Renegades’ most important offensive pieces.
The signing with Baltimore represents Reed’s second opportunity in the NFL.
He initially entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears in 2024 and later spent time on the organization’s practice squad. Across five preseason appearances with Chicago, Reed completed 23 of 33 passes for 230 yards and one touchdown.
His path to professional football has included stops at multiple levels of the college game.
Reed began his collegiate career at Southern Illinois before transferring to West Florida, where he helped lead the Argonauts to the NCAA Division II national championship in 2019.
After the 2020 season was canceled, Reed returned to West Florida in 2021 and completed an impressive Division II career. Across 26 games, he threw 78 touchdown passes against only 20 interceptions, establishing himself as one of the most productive quarterbacks at that level.
Reed then transferred to Western Kentucky, where his passing numbers climbed even higher.
During the 2022 season, he led the Football Bowl Subdivision with 4,746 passing yards while throwing 40 touchdown passes. He followed that performance with another 3,526 passing yards and 31 touchdowns in 2023.
Across his two seasons with the Hilltoppers, Reed totaled 8,272 passing yards and 71 touchdowns, proving he could translate his production from Division II to the highest level of college football.
That combination of experience, production and resilience has now earned Reed another chance to compete for an NFL roster spot.
For Baltimore, Reed adds another arm to the quarterback room ahead of the season while bringing a recent track record of high-volume production. For the Renegades, his move to the NFL serves as another example of the UFL functioning as a springboard for players seeking opportunities at the sport’s highest level.
Dallas will retain Reed’s UFL rights should he return to the league in the future.
For now, though, the former Renegades signal-caller will turn his attention toward Baltimore as he looks to carry his record-setting UFL season into his next NFL opportunity.
