WBB: Nicholls Rolls Past Louisiana Christian 101-54

Nicholls women’s basketball delivered its most complete performance of the season on Monday night, overpowering Louisiana Christian University 101–54 at Stopher Gym. The Colonels dominated every phase of the game, using relentless defense, balanced scoring, and a massive second-half surge to secure the lopsided win.

Nicholls opened the night with strong energy, but it was the second half that blew the game open. Leading 40–34 at halftime, the Colonels exploded for 61 points after the break, beginning with a decisive 12–3 run that immediately put the Wildcats on their heels. From that point on, Nicholls controlled the tempo, consistently turning defensive pressure into easy scoring opportunities.

The Colonels’ defensive intensity was a defining factor. Nicholls forced 26 Louisiana Christian turnovers and recorded 20 steals, smothering the Wildcats’ offense and preventing any sustained momentum. They also dominated the boards, outrebounding the Wildcats 56–37 and limiting second-chance opportunities.

Offensively, Nicholls showcased efficiency and depth. The team shot 47 percent from the field and nearly 80 percent from the free-throw line. Multiple players contributed in significant ways, demonstrating the well-rounded attack that fueled the 100-point performance.

Jasmine Matthews led all scorers with 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting while adding four rebounds. Jesslynn Jalomo followed with 18 points, five steals, four assists, and three rebounds, delivering one of her strongest all-around efforts of the season. Sh’Diamond McKnight added 16 points, seven rebounds, and five steals, continuing to be a two-way force for the Colonels. Marie Kenembeni provided 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting and came within one rebound of a double-double, while Laryn Scott chipped in 11 points and seven boards off the bench.

In total, Nicholls saw contributions throughout the roster—a sign of growing cohesion and confidence. The Colonels controlled scoring by quarters, posting frames of 23, 17, 28, and 33 points, while holding Louisiana Christian to just 20 points in the entire second half.

The victory lifts Nicholls’ momentum as they continue their early-season schedule. With defensive pressure, rebounding dominance, and an offense capable of reaching triple digits, Monday night’s performance showed the Colonels’ potential to be a dangerous and disciplined team moving forward.

Nicholls will look to build on the statement win as they prepare for their next matchup, carrying the energy and execution that powered their 101–54 triumph.
