The Dallas Wings are officially streaking.
Behind a breakout performance from rookie Aziaha James and another scoring showcase from Paige Bueckers, the Wings earned a hard-fought 86-83 win over the Connecticut Sun on Friday night at a sold-out Mohegan Sun Arena. The victory marks Dallas’ second straight win and their first 2-0 road sweep in Connecticut since 2009.
James turned in a career night with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, becoming just the second rookie in the WNBA this season — alongside Bueckers — to record a 15-5-5 stat line. The former NC State standout was particularly clutch in the second half, scoring 17 of her 17 points after halftime.
Bueckers led the Wings (3-11) with 21 points and 7 assists, posting her first set of back-to-back 20-point games and continuing to anchor the backcourt as Dallas climbs out of an early-season slump.
Historic Sweep, Timely Surge
Friday’s win marked the first time Dallas has gone unbeaten in Uncasville in over a decade, and it comes on the heels of Tuesday’s home victory over the Golden State Valkyries. The Wings now have their first win streak of 2025.
The victory also gives head coach Latricia Trammell’s squad a critical mental boost after a 2-11 start and comes at a time when the team’s young core appears to be settling in.
Game Summary
First Quarter – Wings Set the Tone:
Dallas jumped out to a 21-15 lead behind NaLyssa Smith, who scored the Wings’ first six points. Despite early foul trouble, Smith finished the opening frame with 8 points on 4-of-5 shooting.

Bueckers drilled a three to open the quarter, stretching Dallas’ lead to 24-15. Connecticut responded with a 10-0 run to briefly take control, but Dallas steadied the ship and took a 42-40 edge into halftime. Bueckers led all scorers with 16 first-half points.
Third Quarter – James Takes Over:
Dallas used a 12-0 run midway through the third, with James scoring six of those points, to build a nine-point lead. The Sun answered, but a James jumper late in the frame gave the Wings a 65-64 edge heading into the final period.
Fourth Quarter – Clutch Execution:
Dallas never relinquished the lead in the fourth. James and Li Yueru provided timely buckets, while Arike Ogunbowale added five points to help seal the win. The Wings led by as many as seven in the final minute.
