WNBA Game Preview: Dallas Wings Face Tall Task in Road Matchup Against Lynx

ARLINGTON, Texas (Sept. 1, 2025) — The Dallas Wings begin the final month of their season with a road test against one of the WNBA’s elite, visiting the Minnesota Lynx on Monday night at Target Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT, with the game airing locally on KFAA29 in Dallas-Fort Worth and nationally on NBA TV. Veteran broadcasters Ron Thulin and Fran Harris will have the call.

Dallas Battling Through Injuries

The Wings (9-31) arrive in Minnesota shorthanded once again after falling 100-78 to the Atlanta Dream on Friday. Dallas dressed only eight players in that game, with three hardship signees rounding out the rotation. Christyn Williams, signed Friday morning, joined fellow hardship additions Amy Okonkwo and Serena Sundell to give the Wings enough depth to compete.

Despite the thin lineup, Dallas had bright spots. Maddy Siegrist delivered a career-high 23 points, shooting 10-of-17 from the floor while adding five rebounds. Siegrist has become one of the team’s most consistent scoring options during a difficult stretch of the season.

Meanwhile, rookie Paige Bueckers tallied 16 points and 10 assists, notching her second career points-assists double-double. Bueckers remains the only rookie in the league this season to achieve multiple games of that type, and her ability to orchestrate the offense has been crucial as the Wings navigate their injury woes.

Lynx Rolling Toward Postseason

The Lynx (31-8) have been one of the league’s most dominant teams in 2025 and are fresh off a 94-70 road win against the Connecticut Sun on Saturday. DiJonai Carrington led Minnesota with 18 points, while Napheesa Collier and Kayla McBride added double figures to continue the balanced scoring attack that has made the Lynx a championship contender.

With their playoff berth already secured, Minnesota is now playing for seeding and rhythm heading into the postseason. Head coach Cheryl Reeve’s squad has been a model of consistency, boasting one of the league’s best defenses and a versatile offense capable of beating opponents inside and out.

Series Recap: Lynx Dominance

Dallas and Minnesota have already met three times this season, with the Lynx winning all three.

  • May 16 in Arlington: Minnesota 99, Dallas 84

  • May 21 in Minneapolis: Minnesota 85, Dallas 81

  • June 8 in Arlington: Minnesota 81, Dallas 65

The May 21 matchup at Target Center held special significance for Bueckers, a Minnesota native. She posted her first career double-double that night with 12 points and 10 assists, showing flashes of the playmaking brilliance she has brought consistently to the Wings’ offense this year.

Overall, the Lynx lead the all-time series 56-21, underscoring the challenge Dallas faces on Monday.

Key Players to Watch

  • Maddy Siegrist (Dallas): Coming off a career-high 23 points, Siegrist has been the Wings’ most reliable scorer in recent weeks. Her ability to attack from midrange and finish inside will be critical against Minnesota’s disciplined defense.

  • Paige Bueckers (Dallas): Playing in front of her home state fans for the second time, Bueckers will look to build on her strong outing in Atlanta. Her dual ability to score and create opportunities for others will be a focal point.

  • Napheesa Collier (Minnesota): The Lynx star forward anchors both ends of the floor. She will be a matchup challenge for Dallas’ frontcourt, particularly with Luisa Geiselsöder sidelined.

  • DiJonai Carrington (Minnesota): Fresh off an 18-point performance, Carrington provides scoring versatility and energy on the wing.

What’s at Stake

For Dallas, Monday represents another opportunity to evaluate its younger players and hardship signees while aiming to finish the season with competitive spirit. For Minnesota, it is a chance to fine-tune ahead of the postseason while extending its dominance in the head-to-head series.

The Wings will need strong production from Siegrist and Bueckers, along with meaningful contributions from Hines-Allen and Okonkwo, to keep pace with the Lynx’s depth and star power.

Tipoff is at 7 p.m. CT from Target Center. Fans can tune in locally on KFAA29 and nationally on NBA TV. Live stats will be available at stats.wnba.com.
