Arlington, TX (Aug. 10, 2025) – A dominant second-half performance from the Washington Mystics spoiled a hot start by the Dallas Wings, as Washington rallied for a 91-78 win on Sunday afternoon at College Park Center. The loss capped a two-game homestand for Dallas, which now sits at 8-24 on the season, while Washington improves to 14-17.
Paige Bueckers led Dallas with 17 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. The rookie’s performance etched her name further into the record books—tying Caitlin Clark for fifth-most consecutive double-digit scoring games in a rookie season (25) and matching Swin Cash for third-most 15+ point games by a first-year player in Wings franchise history (19).

First Quarter – Wings Fly Out Fast
Dallas rolled out a new starting lineup of Grace Berger, Bueckers, Arike Ogunbowale, Haley Jones and Luisa Geiselsöder. Berger made an immediate impact in her first career start, finding Geiselsöder and Hines-Allen for back-to-back threes. Bueckers then drained another triple, forcing Washington to call an early timeout.
The Wings closed the quarter on a 9-0 run, sparked by Bueckers and Geiselsöder, who combined for 11 points. Dallas shot an impressive 60% from the field and 80% from deep to take a 23-18 lead.
Second Quarter – Perimeter Precision Extends Lead
Diamond Miller hit JJ Quinerly for a three-pointer to open the second, pushing the Wings’ lead back to eight. Washington chipped away, but Dallas responded with a 13-3 spurt to end the half.
The Wings nearly matched their season-high for threes in a half, finishing with six makes from beyond the arc on 60% shooting. Bueckers had six points in the period, reaching 11 for the half, while Jones went 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Defensively, Dallas held Washington to 35% shooting from the field and 30% from three, taking a 41-30 lead into halftime.
Third Quarter – Mystics Flip the Script
Washington came out firing, ripping off a 15-4 run to tie the game at 45-45. Sonia Citron gave the Mystics their first lead since the opening minutes with a driving layup, and the visitors never looked back.
Citron and Iriafen combined for 23 points in the quarter, as Washington shot a blistering 78% from the field and piled up 33 points—their highest-scoring third period of the season. Dallas tried to respond behind Ogunbowale and Geiselsöder, but entered the fourth trailing 63-58.
Fourth Quarter – Closing Kick from Washington
The Mystics put the game away with a 20-6 run late in the fourth. Citron and Emily Engstler powered the surge with 12 combined points, and Washington’s offense stayed red-hot, shooting 82% from the floor in the period.
Quinerly provided six points off the Dallas bench down the stretch, but the Wings couldn’t overcome the deficit. Bueckers, Ogunbowale, Jones, Geiselsöder, and Hines-Allen all scored in double figures, with Hines-Allen adding 11 rebounds for her eighth double-digit rebounding game of the year.

Dallas shot 37% from the field, 35% from beyond the arc, and 83% from the free-throw line. Washington countered with a scorching 53% overall, 42% from three, and 85% at the stripe. The Wings did win the battle on the boards, 33-31, and outscored the Mystics 27-12 in bench production.
