ARLINGTON, Texas (Aug. 22, 2025) — The Dallas Wings’ season-long challenges continued Friday night at College Park Center as they fell to the Seattle Storm, 95-60. Despite a balanced effort on the glass and individual milestones from Maddy Siegrist, Paige Bueckers, and Haley Jones, the Wings were unable to match Seattle’s depth and efficiency.
Siegrist led Dallas with 12 points and five rebounds, while Bueckers added 11 points to extend her remarkable streak of 30 straight games in double figures. The rookie guard also made league history by moving into the WNBA’s all-time rookie scoring list, surpassing Diana Taurasi and Aliyah Boston for 10th place with 581 career points. Jones provided a bright spot with a career-best 10 rebounds, helping the Wings win the rebounding battle 36-30 despite the lopsided scoreline.
Seattle, meanwhile, secured the season series against Dallas, 3-1, and improved to 19-18 overall. The Storm were powered by Dominque Malonga’s 22 points and nine rebounds off the bench, while veterans Brittney Sykes and Skylar Diggins each handed out five assists to control the tempo.
Early Storm Surge
Dallas opened with a starting five of Grace Berger, Bueckers, Siegrist, Jones, and Luisa Geiselsöder, but the group quickly found itself in trouble. After Siegrist and Berger knocked down early baskets, Seattle ripped off a 9-0 run that ballooned to 25-9. The Wings struggled to generate consistent offense, shooting just 33% in the first quarter compared to Seattle’s 56%.
Bueckers kept Dallas afloat with eight points in the opening frame, attacking both inside and at the foul line. However, the Wings trailed 28-16 at the break, setting the tone for what would become a long night against a surging Storm squad.
Siegrist Sparks Second Quarter
The Wings showed signs of life in the second, riding Siegrist’s hot hand. The second-year forward scored eight of her 12 points in the quarter and added four rebounds, giving Dallas a brief stretch of stability. Bueckers chipped in another two points to reach double digits by halftime, while the Wings outrebounded the Storm 20-15 through two quarters.
Despite that effort, Dallas shot just 27% from the field in the second period. Malonga’s bench production kept Seattle in control, as she tallied 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting in the first half alone. The Storm entered the break with a 48-34 advantage, capitalizing on Dallas’ offensive inefficiency.
Storm Depth Takes Over
After halftime, Seattle’s experience and depth widened the gap. Gabby Williams and Erica Wheeler combined for 13 points in the third quarter, while Dallas mustered just 11 total points. Diamond Miller provided a spark off the bench with a three-pointer and four points overall, but the Wings’ shooting woes persisted.
Dallas finished the third shooting 31% from the floor and just 25% from three, leaving them with little room to cut into the deficit. The Storm entered the final frame ahead by 22, 67-45, with control firmly in their hands.
Closing Run Seals It
The Storm’s bench put the game away in the fourth quarter. Malonga continued her standout night with seven more points and four rebounds, as Seattle’s reserves accounted for all 28 of the team’s final-quarter points. Amy Okonkwo offered a late highlight for Dallas, scoring six points on 3-of-4 shooting, but the outcome had long been decided.
Seattle shot an impressive 65% in the final quarter, finishing at 52% for the night. In contrast, Dallas hit just 30% overall and 17% from beyond the arc.
Looking Ahead
The loss dropped Dallas to 9-28 on the season, leaving them still searching for consistency as the regular season winds down. While rebounding and individual milestones offered positives, the Wings’ inability to convert offensively continues to be a hurdle.
Seattle’s win not only pushed them above .500 but also solidified their hold on the season series. Malonga’s breakout night highlighted the Storm’s depth, as three of their bench players scored in double figures.
The Wings will have a quick turnaround as they host the Golden State Valkyries on Sunday at College Park Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT, with local coverage on KFAA. The two teams have split their previous matchups this year, setting up an important rubber game for Dallas to regain momentum at home.
