WNBA Game Recap: Wings Ride Quinerly and James to Victory Over Mystics in Arlington

Arlington, TX (June 28, 2025) – In a night full of breakout performances and momentum-shifting runs, the Dallas Wings outlasted the Washington Mystics 79-71 on Saturday at College Park Center. First-time starter JJ Quinerly and guard Aziaha James shared the spotlight, each scoring a career-high 15 points to lift the Wings to their fourth win in six games.

With the victory, Dallas improves to 5-13 on the season and evens its 2025 series with Washington at one game apiece. The Mystics drop to 8-9. The Wings were without star rookie Paige Bueckers (rest), but Quinerly stepped up in her absence, adding four rebounds and four assists in her most complete performance to date. James chipped in five boards, one assist, one block, and a career-best three 3-pointers to match Quinerly’s scoring mark.

Quinerly led all players at the break with 13 points, while Dallas maintained efficiency, shooting 56.7% from the floor and going a perfect 10-of-10 from the line. Dallas’ bench—led by James, Hines-Allen, and Haley Jones—outscored the Mystics’ reserves by double digits. Defensively, the Wings limited Washington to 30% from the field.

Third Quarter: Dallas 19, Washington 25

Sonia Citron keyed a Mystics surge to begin the third, cutting Dallas’ lead to two with a 12-2 run. But James and Hines-Allen steadied the Wings with timely buckets, including a James triple to push the lead back to 11. Citron added 11 points in the frame, but Dallas held firm behind its interior dominance and timely second-chance points.

Fourth Quarter: Dallas 15, Washington 15

Dallas appeared poised to pull away, stretching its lead to double digits with a 21-9 start to the quarter.
