ARLINGTON, Texas (July 21, 2026) — Dallas Wings guard Azzi Fudd will add another milestone to her impressive rookie season after being selected to compete in the 2026 State Farm WNBA 3-Point Contest.
The league announced the six-player field Tuesday, placing Fudd alongside Bridget Carleton of the Portland Fire, Natisha Hiedeman of the Seattle Storm, Rhyne Howard of the Atlanta Dream, Marina Mabrey of the Toronto Tempo and Janelle Salaün of the Golden State Valkyries.
The competition will take place Friday, July 24, at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. Coverage begins at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN, Disney+ and the ESPN App. The 3-Point Contest and Kia WNBA Shooting Stars event will serve as the opening showcase for All-Star weekend before the 2026 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday at United Center.
Azzi Fudd: A Rising Star in WNBA
Fudd will be the only rookie in this year’s contest, continuing a productive debut season for the No. 1 overall selection in the 2026 WNBA Draft.
The 5-foot-11 guard has quickly established herself as one of the league’s most dangerous perimeter shooters. She enters the All-Star break ranked 10th in the WNBA with 50 made three-pointers, the highest total among first-year players.
Fudd also set a Wings rookie record by making six three-pointers against the New York Liberty on May 24. She has recorded at least two made triples in 14 games and has connected on three or more shots from beyond the arc nine times.
Her selection gives Dallas another prominent representative during an already significant All-Star weekend for the franchise. Paige Bueckers and Jessica Shepard were previously named starters for Saturday’s game.
Bueckers will make her second consecutive All-Star start after leading all players with 1,045,051 fan votes. Shepard earned the first All-Star selection of her six-year professional career.
Fudd’s shooting reputation was firmly established before her arrival in Dallas. During her collegiate career at Connecticut, she became one of the most accomplished perimeter scorers in program history.
She finished fifth on UConn’s career list with 292 made three-pointers and ranked seventh with a 42.2-percent career conversion rate from deep. Fudd also made 117 three-pointers during the 2025-26 season, the fourth-highest single-season total in school history.
Friday’s contest will feature a two-round format with five traditional shooting racks positioned around the three-point line. Four racks will include four standard basketballs worth one point and an oatmeal-colored money ball worth two points.
Each participant will also select the location of an all-money-ball rack containing five two-point balls.
The competition will include two additional deep shooting locations known as “From the Logo” spots. Each pedestal will hold a special ball worth three points. A successful logo shot will trigger the State Farm jingle and generate a charitable contribution to Girls Who Code Inc.
The two highest-scoring players in the opening round will advance to the championship round.
Fudd becomes the first Dallas player to participate in an All-Star skills competition since Arike Ogunbowale appeared in the 3-Point Contest in 2023.
Her inclusion gives the Wings three confirmed participants across the weekend’s marquee events, reflecting the team’s strong first half of the season and the immediate impact of its young backcourt.
All-Star festivities will extend across three days in Chicago. WNBA Live presented by AWS will run from Thursday through Saturday at McCormick Place, followed by Friday’s skills events and Saturday night’s All-Star Game.
For Fudd, the 3-Point Contest offers an opportunity to showcase the shooting ability that made her one of the most highly regarded prospects in recent years. It also provides another national stage for a rookie whose range, confidence and scoring production have already made her an important part of the Wings’ success.
