STWF Sports | ARLINGTON, Texas | Aug. 3, 2026 — The Dallas Wings are taking another major step in the franchise’s transition to Dallas.
The team announced Monday that its home games for the 2027 WNBA season will be played at American Airlines Center, moving the Wings out of College Park Center after 11 seasons in Arlington.
The decision marks a significant chapter for a franchise that first arrived in North Texas ahead of the 2016 season. College Park Center served as the Wings’ home throughout that stretch, but American Airlines Center will now become the team’s temporary game venue as Dallas continues work toward its long-term arena plans.
“Today’s announcement marks a pivotal step in the team’s relocation to Dallas as well as our continued growth as a professional sports enterprise,” Wings CEO and Managing Partner Greg Bibb said.
Bibb pointed to American Airlines Center’s location, amenities and ability to accommodate the franchise’s expanding fan base as important factors in the move. The downtown Dallas arena is already home to the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and NHL’s Dallas Stars and has long served as one of the region’s premier sports and entertainment venues.
The Wings have already seen the potential of playing there.
Dallas hosted two regular-season games at American Airlines Center in 2025, including a June 27 matchup against the Indiana Fever that drew a sold-out crowd of 20,409. That attendance figure established a Wings franchise record and represented the largest crowd ever for a WNBA game in Texas. It also became one of the few regular-season games in league history to surpass 20,000 fans.
The team has three additional games scheduled at AAC during the 2026 season, including an Aug. 20 matchup against Indiana and a Friday contest against the Golden State Valkyries.
American Airlines Center General Manager Dave Brown said the arena is eager to become part of the organization’s next phase.
“American Airlines Center is proud to serve as the home of the Dallas Wings, and we look forward to being part of the continued growth and excitement surrounding women’s sports,” Brown said.
While the move represents progress toward the Wings’ Dallas future, Bibb also acknowledged the importance of the franchise’s years in Arlington.
He thanked College Park Center leadership, the University of Texas at Arlington and the city for helping provide a stable home after the franchise relocated to North Texas.
“College Park Center has always felt like home and that is a credit to the people and the partnership along with the building itself,” Bibb said.
The AAC move is expected to be temporary.
In 2024, the Wings reached a 15-year agreement with the City of Dallas to eventually play at a renovated Dallas Memorial Auditorium. Construction delays at that site have pushed back the franchise’s permanent relocation timeline, creating the need for an interim home.
At the same time, work continues on the Wings’ new performance center in Dallas’ West Oak Cliff neighborhood. The state-of-the-art facility is scheduled to open next April and will become the team’s permanent training headquarters.
The move to AAC also creates an important opportunity for the Wings to capitalize on rising attendance and increased interest in the franchise.
Current season-ticket members will receive the first opportunity to select seats and purchase packages for the 2027 season. Renewals are scheduled to begin Aug. 10, while prospective new season-ticket members can begin purchasing Aug. 20.
For a franchise that has spent more than a decade building its identity in Arlington, the 2027 season will represent a significant transition.
Dallas will retain the familiarity of North Texas while moving into one of the market’s largest and most recognizable venues, providing the Wings with a bigger stage as the organization continues preparing for its permanent future in the city.
