WNBA Preview: Dallas Wings Close Regular Season in Seattle With Playoff Positioning on the Line

STWF Sports| SEATTLE, Washington| September 23, 2026 — The Dallas Wings will close the 2026 regular season Wednesday night with a road matchup against the Seattle Storm at Climate Pledge Arena, carrying both momentum and postseason implications into the finale.

Dallas enters at 26-17 and has won six of its last seven games. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT, with national coverage on USA Network and local coverage in the Dallas-Fort Worth market on KFAA 29.

The Wings are currently tied with the New York Liberty for seventh place and sit a half-game behind the Washington Mystics, who are 26-16. Dallas owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over New York after winning the season series 2-1, while Washington holds the edge over Dallas after taking two of three meetings.

The Wings also remain within reach of Indiana, which enters the final stretch at 27-15. Dallas won its season series against the Fever, 2-1.

With that positioning still unsettled, Wednesday’s matchup carries more than the feel of a routine regular-season finale.

Dallas Looks to Finish Strong

The Wings are coming off an 87-86 road loss to Phoenix that snapped a six-game winning streak, but the performance still featured several major individual milestones.

Paige Bueckers scored 30 points to raise her season total to 853, setting a new Wings single-season scoring record. Jessica Shepard added 17 points and a game-high 19 rebounds for her 24th double-double of the year.

Dallas will look to quickly reset in Seattle and finish the season with the same level of consistency that has defined its recent stretch.

The Wings already hold a 3-0 advantage in the season series against Seattle and will be seeking the first regular-season sweep of the Storm in franchise history.

That makes Wednesday an opportunity to add another milestone to a season already filled with historic performances.

Bueckers Has Thrived Against Seattle

One of Dallas’ strongest performances against the Storm came in the most recent meeting between the teams.

The Wings defeated Seattle 92-70 in Texas behind a game-high 32 points from Bueckers, who went a perfect 6-for-6 from three-point range. That performance tied the WNBA record for the most three-pointers made in a game without a miss.

Dallas has also found different ways to beat Seattle throughout the season.

The Wings won the first meeting 79-56 on June 1 before surviving a 112-110 overtime battle on June 22. The third matchup was far more decisive, with Dallas controlling the game from start to finish.

That range of results should keep the Wings focused despite Seattle’s 8-35 record.

One Final Tune-Up Before the Postseason

For Dallas, the regular-season finale is also a chance to sharpen execution before the playoffs.

The Wings have built momentum late in the season, but Monday’s loss to Phoenix showed how quickly a game can turn in the final minutes. Dallas led late before allowing the Mercury to rally and win on a go-ahead basket with 2.4 seconds remaining.

That experience should provide another point of emphasis heading into Seattle.

Ball security, late-game execution and defensive discipline will all matter as the Wings look to enter the postseason with confidence.

Seattle, meanwhile, has nothing to lose and will have the opportunity to finish its season at home with a strong performance against a playoff-bound opponent.

Dallas cannot afford to overlook that setting.

The Wings have already secured the season series, but Wednesday offers a chance to complete the sweep, build momentum and potentially improve their playoff positioning depending on results elsewhere.
