STWF Sports | MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota | August 9, 2026 — The Dallas Wings will close out their 2026 regular-season series against the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday afternoon, traveling to Target Center for a matchup against one of the WNBA’s top teams.
Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT, with the game airing nationally on NBC and streaming on Peacock. Zora Stephenson will handle play-by-play duties alongside analyst Sarah Kustok and sideline reporter Ashley ShahAhmadi.
Dallas enters the matchup at 19-13 after falling 94-76 to the Golden State Valkyries on Friday night at American Airlines Center. The Wings were unable to match Golden State’s perimeter shooting and offensive efficiency, but Paige Bueckers once again led the way with 17 points.
The Dallas Wings: A Team on the Rise
Aziaha James added 13 points in a spot start after Azzi Fudd was ruled out shortly before tipoff with right knee soreness. It was James’ highest-scoring performance since she posted a season-best 18 points against Seattle on June 22.
Alanna Smith also continued a strong recent stretch, finishing with 11 points and six rebounds. The outing marked her third double-digit scoring performance in the last four games.
Bueckers shot 6-of-12 from the field and 2-of-4 from three-point range, but Dallas struggled as a team to generate its typical ball movement and offensive rhythm.
That challenge becomes even greater Sunday against a Minnesota team that has dominated the season series.
The Lynx are 3-0 against Dallas in 2026, earning two victories in Texas on May 14 and June 28 before defeating the Wings in Minneapolis on June 9. Dallas has not beaten Minnesota since Aug. 30, 2024, and enters Sunday looking to snap a seven-game regular-season losing streak in the matchup.
Minnesota comes into the game at 26-7 following a 98-87 home victory over the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday.
The Lynx received balanced production throughout the lineup, with all five starters scoring in double figures. Rookie guard Olivia Miles led the way with 26 points, while Napheesa Collier added 22.
That balance has been a major reason Minnesota has established itself near the top of the league standings.
For Dallas, Sunday’s matchup will require a sharper defensive effort than the one shown against Golden State. The Wings allowed 12 three-pointers Friday and struggled to keep the Valkyries out of rhythm once the game began to tilt.
Minnesota presents a different challenge, with multiple players capable of scoring, facilitating and punishing defensive breakdowns.
The Wings will also need more consistent offensive execution.
Dallas entered Friday averaging more than 22 assists per game but finished with only eight against Golden State, its lowest total in years. Reestablishing ball movement and creating clean looks will be critical against a disciplined Lynx defense.
The status of Fudd will also be worth monitoring after she missed Friday’s game with knee soreness. If she remains unavailable, James could again be asked to take on a larger role.
Sunday represents the final game of a demanding stretch for Dallas and another measuring-stick opportunity against one of the WNBA’s best teams.
The Wings have shown the ability to respond after difficult losses throughout the season, but Minnesota has been one of the few opponents they have yet to solve.
A victory at Target Center would not only end a seven-game skid in the series, but also give Dallas a significant confidence boost as the regular season moves deeper into August.
