STWF Sports | ARLINGTON, Texas | July 28, 2026 — The Dallas Wings return from the WNBA All-Star break Wednesday night with an opportunity to protect their home court, continue one of the league’s hottest stretches and earn their first victory of the season over the Atlanta Dream.
Dallas will host Atlanta at 7 p.m. CT before a sold-out crowd at College Park Center. The matchup will air nationally on USA Network, with Meghan McPeak handling play-by-play alongside analysts Amy Audibert and Sheryl Swoopes and sideline reporter Terrika Foster-Brasby.
KFAA will also carry the game locally, featuring Mike Leslie on play-by-play, Fran Harris as analyst and Alexis Davis reporting from the sideline.
The Wings enter the second portion of the season with an 18-9 record after winning seven of their last eight games. Atlanta arrives at 16-10, setting up an important matchup between two teams positioned near the top of the WNBA standings.
The Rise of the Dallas Wings in the WNBA
Dallas carried considerable momentum into the break after earning a 101-97 road victory over the Portland Fire. Jessica Shepard delivered another all-around performance, recording 18 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists for the fifth triple-double of her career.
Arike Ogunbowale led the Wings with 24 points, while Paige Bueckers added 21 as Dallas secured its first victory over Portland. The result continued an impressive stretch in which the Wings combined efficient offense with timely fourth-quarter execution.
Several Dallas players remained in the spotlight during WNBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago.
Azzi Fudd made league history by becoming the first rookie to win the WNBA 3-Point Contest. She also became the first player in Wings history to capture the event, adding another achievement to an impressive debut season.
Shepard participated in her first career WNBA All-Star Game and helped Team Spoon defeat Team Coop 129-122. Bueckers represented Team Coop, giving Dallas multiple players on one of the league’s biggest stages.
The Wings will now attempt to carry that confidence into a difficult matchup against an Atlanta team that has controlled the season series.
The Dream won the first two meetings between the teams, defeating Dallas at College Park Center on May 12 before earning another victory May 22 in Atlanta. Dallas has lost four consecutive regular-season games against the Dream and is searching for its first win in the series since July 24, 2025.
Atlanta enters Wednesday’s game having won three of its last four contests after previously enduring a five-game losing streak.
The Dream closed their pre-break schedule with a dramatic 93-91 victory over the Chicago Sky. Allisha Gray scored 29 points, while Jordin Canada converted the game-winning layup as time expired.
Gray’s scoring ability will present one of Dallas’ most significant defensive challenges. The Wings must also contain Canada’s penetration and prevent Atlanta from creating easy opportunities in transition and around the basket.
For Dallas, controlling the defensive glass and limiting turnovers will be essential. Shepard’s rebounding and passing give the Wings a reliable offensive hub, while Bueckers, Ogunbowale and Fudd provide multiple perimeter scoring threats.
The Wings have shown the ability to win in several ways during their recent surge. They can push the pace, attack through their guards or operate through Shepard as a facilitator from the frontcourt.
Wednesday’s contest also marks Dallas’ first opportunity to respond to two earlier losses against Atlanta. A stronger start could prove critical after the Dream dictated key stretches in the teams’ previous meetings.
The sold-out environment at College Park Center should provide additional energy as the Wings begin the post-All-Star portion of their schedule.
With Dallas pursuing an eighth victory in nine games and Atlanta trying to complete a regular-season sweep, Wednesday’s matchup carries significant weight. The Wings return home with individual All-Star honors, growing confidence and a chance to show that their recent run can continue against one of the few opponents they have yet to defeat this season.
