STWF Sports| ARLINGTON, Texas| September 30, 2026 — The Dallas Wings return to College Park Center on Wednesday night with their season on the line, hosting the Golden State Valkyries in Game 2 of their best-of-three WNBA First Round playoff series.
Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT, with the game airing nationally on ESPN. Dallas enters the matchup trailing the series 1-0 after falling 104-80 in Game 1 on Sunday night in San Francisco.
The formula for the Wings is simple: win at home and force a decisive Game 3.
Golden State seized control of the opener with a dominant 37-11 second quarter, using hot perimeter shooting and balanced scoring to create separation. The Valkyries finished with 18 made three-pointers, a total that proved too much for Dallas to overcome.
Despite the loss, Paige Bueckers delivered an efficient postseason debut, scoring 21 points while finishing one point shy of the Wings’ franchise record for points in a playoff debut.
Now the challenge shifts back to Arlington, where Dallas was one of the league’s toughest home teams throughout the regular season.

The Wings have also historically handled Game 2 situations well. Dallas is 2-1 all-time in playoff series Game 2s, with both victories coming in the First Round. The Wings defeated Connecticut in Game 2 in 2022 and Atlanta in 2023.

The biggest area of concern from Game 1 was Golden State’s perimeter efficiency.
Dallas defended well enough in stretches, but the Valkyries’ ability to consistently convert from deep opened the game and forced the Wings into difficult comeback situations.
Wednesday’s response will require better closeouts, stronger communication and more consistent execution against Golden State’s shooters.
Offensively, Dallas will also need more balance around Bueckers.
The Wings were competitive early in Game 1, but the second quarter exposed how quickly the offense could stall when Golden State increased its pressure. Better ball movement, fewer empty possessions and stronger production from the supporting cast will be essential.
Dallas has already shown it can be one of the WNBA’s most efficient offenses when it plays with pace and rhythm. Game 2 is the moment to rediscover that version of the team.
Season Comes Down to One Night
The stakes could not be clearer.
A Golden State victory would end the Wings’ season and send the Valkyries into the next round. A Dallas win would extend the series and force a winner-take-all Game 3 on Friday night.
For a Wings team that authored a historic regular-season turnaround, Wednesday offers another chance to prove that growth under postseason pressure.
